At the moment, I have very hot conditions, relative rare here. Makes training more or less undoable. After 10 min I am soaked and overheated. Talking 30C and a bit more.
Henry at 11PM last night it was 27 in Brussels! They say that paris could get to 40

Re: Forum Flyers

Martin, just give it a go, don,t overthink it. Its mostly long, and pretty rapidly not fun anymore. Take one rep at the time from there. Mighty effort Henry especially for someone not enjoying it! I must be a bit weird because I actually quite like these sort of sessions - you can see the end of ea...

Just practise. Never followed the 10 spm system, but have done a 143 6k and 35.14 10k strapless. Talking 5 years ago. There was a guy, Irish I believe, 40 plus lightweight who was succesfull doing 10 spm. henry the Irish guy was Jonathon Doyle a 40+ lwt - won in Boston I think around 6:25 was his be...

Re: Forum Flyers

What's your take on the proper pacing for the full 20 intervals? I get the feeling 2k pace should be sustainable, but I'm not really sure what I'm capable of these days. My 30+ rate performance has really taken a nosedive this year. I averaged 1:46 for 10 intervals, could give it plenty more beans ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Yeah, I do much prefer the sprinty stuff Lindsay so really should have been more up for it. I'm beginning to have serious doubts about my "new" (this year) training regime where my base session is an 8k at 20 spm and keeping my HR below my UT1 top limit 144 - try for sub 140. What happens is that m...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Lindsay, that is a good place to be. For someone in their later 60s to be able to almost automatically dial in sub-7:00 is no small achievement. There are only a small handful of ergers, similarly situated, through the years who have been at that level. JimG Totally agree, this is very impressive a...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

@ Lindsay. observed max HR. Does that mean the highest HR i can produce? My highest is 204bpm at the tail end of my 10k p.b. Yes Andrew the only way of getting a real MHR is by observation at the end of a flat out piece and the 10k should do it very nicely. The classic VO2 max test at the AIS (and ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Thurs/Fri off Sat - low level race day in Sydney Not hugely motivated no pressure - took it a bit easy I guess but all done in 3 hours and a bit of fun That's too many 6:59s in the past 12 months (6 I think) so not sure whether to be pleased by consistency or irritated by inability to get faster 2k ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

3/6 20x300 r1 for the CTC. Lindsay suggested 2k-3s was doable so I stupidly set off at 1:42. Only took the one rep to know I couldn't do that for another 19! Next few tried to keep sub 1:44 then sub 1:45. Mostly managed but one at 1:46 and one at 1:49.6 before a faster last which gave me a 1:43.8 a...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

@ Martin, well done.. my heart rate goes way too high according to my age.. My last 10k P.B. on 2nd June 2020, my HR peaked at 200bpm Ave was 187bpm. If did workouts according 220 - age (52) i"m not sure i'd see the results i'm getting now. I'm not advocating you do the same. Well done again. Andre...
