Are you sure he didn't have the monitor set to watts and was just a subtle beast? :D
It is really hard to do but it is set to Calories (of course) and is about 300. In watts usually is 3 or 4 - SR about 20

Re: Train hard and less or easier and more?

1) Most rowing plans have HI intervals done with long rest periods compared with other sports. While some say they prefer shortening these, if there is validity to this, how should it affect the frequency with which these are done? My only thoughts are that the intensity of the power stroke and pro...

Terry did one too 1060m. He has had a month off with a neck problem so happy enough with that - should adjust pretty well once entered.
We have 8 up now for the IRL - Terry's 1060 went over 1400 which is nice and puts us on the first page. We do have room for one more - will have a look around.

Re: Creating a new club - request for guidance

not sure what you mean by "starting a club". Most of the clubs here are virtual clubs that actually exist to consolidate entries in the C2 and CTC challenges and the like. Some are built around a facebook presence and some go back a long way. Most don't offer training advice and the like and I wonde...

Re: Optimum split pacing ?

Chris, you've stumbled onto my secret identity. I've watched that race you did two years ago many times on youtube. You always win. It makes me happy Going back 40 years, my best 2ks (or the equivalent) have always been flat. Always hope I'm going to have a sprint, but I end up in the last 500 just...

Re: Preventing Rotator Cuff Issues from Rowing

I have done a stepped max HR test but that was in the military and some years ago. We'd like to do a stepped measure now like the AIS 4'/1'R interval test - I'll start looking for instructions for how to conduct it, but if you have a link to any, that would be great. I did have a link but can't tra...

Yes forget all about training to damper settings as they can't be relied up on at all. Use the drag factor and try around 120/130 as that is a likely sweet spot.

Re: How many meters do you have this season and how are you doing on this season's goals?

I have never counted my meters so actually have not idea how many I've done. Suspect 1.5-2m per year over past 10 years. This year is pretty much on track which is good. Goals ok so far and on track (tho haven't been sub7 this year) but will find out on Dec 8 in London - as close to 6:50 as I can get!
