Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Susan, good to read your Marathon race preparation is going well. Mike , also good to read that you are feeling better again and you are (mostly) posting good times again. Re your problems yesterday - Age Related Decline - I find at my age Its not a good idea to work out too hard the day after a bi...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Good to see you back and in such fine form Marjorie. Very impressive 2k and 5k at and over 1000 points which must mean world class! Mike, my 5k result is about 1% slower than last year's SB, can't complain about that :) . However most of my other distances are about 2.5% worse :( . And of course th...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Best wishes to everyone here for the New Year. :D :D Susan, good to see you gave just about stayed LWT through the festive season. I know it's not easy (hic, burp!). Wishing you well for your New Year's Eve 30 minute TT. I've had a pleasant few days relaxing with most of my usual distractions (such ...

Re: Pete’s Plan for 1000m?

Mark, 1000m may be the usual Masters distance in Australia (and Scotland) but in most of the world, including the World Championships, us oldies (I'm 68) are expected to row 2000m on the ergs along with the youngsters. As an alternative 500m is also often offered. So we train for that. Where I live ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Sorry, been away a long time but I gave up completely on the erg 2nd May -23rd September and after that not having done a CTC for Sub7 until Boxing day. My summer was not entirely sedentary as I was still rowing on water – competing both in Coastal and fine boat sculls: I even won a 500m single scul...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Susan, Mike . Sorry to hear about your injuries: know how you feel as I'm still getting some gyp intermittently from my skiing leg injury. Strangely it's worse when I dance than when I row. Susan. good result there in Helsinki despite the travel issues and the heat. No shame in getting a gold medal...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Well done Rod , Susan and Mike . You are all plugging away well and meeting or exceeding your targets.Coming back from my own injury I'n very impressed by Susan's post-op improvement with her new bionic hip joint. Mike , hear what you are saying about injuries. Sorry to hear what happened to your wi...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Update from me. At the moment I'm pretty crocked. Went skiing two weeks ago in Saalbach. New skis, sunny but with plenty of snow. Great first two hours, was 'over the hill' towards Leogang and had a bad fall, knee seeming to do some strange things, both skis come off. Checked out and nothing broken....

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Hi y'all, Some serious long distance stuff from Susan and Rod and seemingly more to come :!: . Not one to be so heavy on such intense workouts - so far my max this season is 37,000 in a week (obviously will do more if I ever do that FM for the Nonathlon). Had two more goes at the BRVIS 1000m, having...

Whoops, cut and paste error: Total time for CTC 16:03.3, not 6:03.3.

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

And yes I think you need to be re-introduced to the concept of a taper before a race Marjorie. Doing a full competitively paced erg session the day before as well as over 20 miles on a bike isn't my idea of a taper! No wonder the 4th 500 came hard. Still a win though!! Hi Mike - my bike ride was 2 ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Susan , well done on your 2k SB at St Austell. My Teign Scullers crew mate Brain Cort (82) was also there and got a Silver in the 70+ category with a 8:20.7. Mike , good to see you were also able to do some 2k, even if you would have liked to go faster, 7:02.1 is not a time to be ashamed off coming...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Hi Mike, glad you enjoyed the live coverage. I didn't do a very good time, which may be why I never featured in the commentary, only managing 8:01.3. Would have been sub 8, but lost it in the last 500m when no real drive in the legs and only did 2:01.3 when it should have been 1:57. Don't know wheth...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Susan , best wishes for an easy journey and a good result at St Austell. I'm now sitting by the departure gate at Heathrow, having come up to London yesterday afternoon. I did knock off another attempt at the CTC yesterday morning, unfortunately at 20 spm not 19 spm as I was supposed too. The good ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Today had another go at the 6x500R2 (I'm nowhere near as dedicated as Rod, who does 10 reps.). Averaged 1:55.0 pace before the Welsh. Averaged 1:56.5 pace before BRIC - where having held 1:54.8 pace for the first three reps I then blew up on the 4th. This time averaged 1:55.5 with reps: 1:55.9, 1:5...
