Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

https://i.postimg.cc/9zCXL43D/IMG-20201026-100649-887.jpg This was mental medicine today, as I needed some distraction as I have reached a turning point in my stress levels. For the past four months I have been on an emotional rollercoaster, much like everyone else I assume, but my wife had an abla...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Did a HM yesterday as my weekly longer SS row. Kept my pace slow (2:05) and SPM at 19. HR did what it has been doing and started in the 120s, then 130s and about halfway was low 140s and it stayed there. It felt fine and when I was done I wasn't really breathing hard and I got right off the rower an...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

https://i.postimg.cc/18Dg0sT5/IMG-20201025-082427-253.jpg I took a leaf out of Ian's book and attacked this session again, 15 hours after a HD. I just aimed for an improvement on my last CTC distance (I think it was 8324m) and stayed away from a PB pace. Rate was capped at r29, as I find if I go r3...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Stu, I think the issue is I am not sure what it is telling me. I believe I am hydrated as I drink a ton of water all day every day. When I do the SS sessions I usually follow a bit of the OCD and stay super consistent, my HR will be below 120, then get into the 120s and then the low 130s and eventu...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Unplanned Half Marathon today. I got on the erg to warmup for what was going to be 20k easy steady state, and things just clicked, and I felt like it was "just one of those days" and I decided to take advantage of it. Improvement of ~2:15 since my last one in July https://i.imgur.com/es41bfe.png Am...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I'm not sure what a low HR really means, unless you're comparing it your own previous results, albeit it still should be over quite a lot of results. Are you trying to keep it consistent or aiming for anything in particular? These past two days have been done with no pressure whatsoever on pace etc...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Funny was just going to say you and Tony's HR staying low. I still don't feel I really understand my HR but one thing I have noticed is even when doing longer and slower rows my HR still creeps up to the 140 range. I feel fine and not tired but my HR is telling me I am working harder than it feels....

https://i.postimg.cc/dZJXx3Ds/IMG-20201023-075318-566.jpg Another steady 18k, with no expectations and hardly looking at the monitor. HR was low, but not as impressive as Tony's for a similar session. I'll have wander outside my comfort zone tomorrow morning, probably to do the CTC again. Funny was...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Another tough one today. 3 x 4 minutes with 4 minutes rest. Targets were 1.39.9 then 1.38.9 then whatever was left in the tank for the 3rd. Felt very hard today so i knew the last wasnt going to be pretty. i was counting 10's with 2.30 mins remaining. Saw a new max HR of 192 today as well. Time Met...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I set it up in Ergzone - basically 18 sets of 250 with 15 seconds rest for the first 5 then 5 minutes after the 6 rep. repeat 3 times. Yeah the 15 seconds "rest" is brutal. Probably easier without the rest to be honest. Breaks the rhythm completely. Have to get up to speed from a dead stop and then...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

<> Have you seen the Eddie Fletcher 2k warm up guide ? Not used it myself but tucked away the guide for when I feel like going back to the 2k. Not quite sure how to use it and if each warm up section is continuous to the next one, but may be of use. Thanks Dino, <> I have been vaguely aware of the ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Sounds awfully hard! How do you set it up in the PM5, just intervals of 250 with 15"R and manually timing the rest between sets? That's what I did. This one surprised me, didn't expect it to be that bad but the 15"' rest is almost nothing. I set it up in Ergzone - basically 18 sets of 250 with 15 s...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Hey guys, been rowing again for a little over 2 years after a major knee injury. Decided to do my first attempt at a 2k today so new pb! 7m 41.5s 43 years old, 6'3, 230lbs (gammy leg!) Edit, been a while since I was here, 10k time has been bettered too, 41.13 now! On another note, the 2k killed me,...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Tried Ian's 3 sets (5' between sets) of 6x250 15"R at desired 2K pace....did not go well. Long story short, I made it thru the first 2 sets just under planned pace averaging 1:35.9 but never even started the 3rd set as I was already hurting bad. I am usually better at short intervals so this tells ...
