Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

https://i.postimg.cc/nsCFB3Hp/IMG-20200708-175327-670.jpg I need to not do 30r20 sessions more often. PB by 124m and it was January 5th the last time I have tried a TT for this session, and I think it's only my sixth ever 30r20 TT. I was expecting to scrape in just over 8k as I have only done slow ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Had a thought today, not sure if it was a good thought though. Was thinking about all time PBs. The FM stood out at being beatable. Only done one before back in 2005. Did 30min at 1.56 r23/24, felt very different to my normal stroke. Hmmmmm....... I say these are good thoughts as they usually lead ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Thought about CTC today but just did some interval work - 2K at sub 7:00 with 2'R, then 5x500 at sub 1:37 2' R, then a moderate 2K. No real reason for todays training, just kind of did what I felt.

Re: 100m MAX: first few strokes

Martin will prob have some good sprint advice for you, I rarely test the 100M and its not something I pay much attention to and not that great for me despite my 1 minute and 500 being pretty good. One thing I have found is that max drag doesn't always work well for me. Heavier drag seems to work bet...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Seldom posted here my training. But maybe I should. Given the amount I post in general. Boring ass hell. Atm, I only skierg, no rowing, no cycling, no weights. Which I normaly would do. For give or take 6 weeks now, I more or less use a “maffetone’ approach. Ofcourse with my own twists. Firs...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Sunday I did a 20K SS. Nothing exciting at all but it's funny how normal and "easy" a 20K can be when there was a time that seemed like a monumental row. I was thinking about this yesterday, as well. Not too long ago I remember the 10k row in the beginner Pete Plan being some intimidating distance....

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Sat. - Did some short intervals as part of a CF workout (first time doing one at gym since March). Sunday I did a 20K SS. Nothing exciting at all but it's funny how normal and "easy" a 20K can be when there was a time that seemed like a monumental row. I wanted to try a hard (possible TT) on the 10K...

Nice 30min at 10k pace. Only 6 more mins and sub 36 in the bag.
:D thanks Nick. That's what I need to remind myself
That was a great row and I agree with all others that you have a sub 36 in you, just going to be a matter of timing it on the right day and beating the chimp.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Glad to report I redeemed myself after yesterdays failure. Took forum advice and went with the negative split approach for the 10km effort. I aimed to average first 5km with 1.48's and then 2nd 5km with 1.46 for a total of 35.40. I knew that was ambitious but i also knew 1.46.5's in the 2nd half wo...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Went sub 7’ for my 2k. :D Somewhat buoyed with some other times I thought I’d give it a go but be sensible this time and avoid a HD at all costs. The plan worked - hard away, sit on 1:45 and wind it up from 400 with everything I’d got left for the last 21 strokes. I don’t think my HR really was 208...

Re: 39M Balancing Lifting and Rowing for improved fitness

I have had similar posts as I was a competitive CrossFit athlete and always did weights as well as rowing. However I became more of a competitive rower and backed off some of the other stuff - in fact I am close to being done with CF (another topic I plan to discuss with all soon). Anyway, I think 3...

Re: What do you do to keep yourself interested/mix it up?

The responses so far are good and I don't have much to add as I say DO NOT do what I am very guilty of and that is obsessing about it all and focusing so much on the monitor. I vary my workouts but I get so caught up into certain ones that I don't vary as much as I should as I am always thinking I n...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

https://i.postimg.cc/qt3VKf9B/IMG-20200702-081631-972.jpg Appearances can be very deceptive. I had zero motivation today but I have got enough discipline to just switch on auto pilot. The only bit of 'fun' I had was the sardonic laugh I had to myself when I missed it by one metre. HR was really ave...
