Re: If you ever wanted evidence of the power of the mind...

As many will know on here I have slashed my weekly erg volume from ~60K/week to ~30K/week in the last year. As a recent experiment I've been intrigued as what effect this would have and chose the 5K as a convenient test to repeatedly compare. I've suspected I can go sub 18:30 now. But I haven't bee...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

100m PB - 14,7 Finally reached the sub-15-goal by far, much better than expected. Did 2 "warm ups" at 15,1 with about 5 min rest between. Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 0:14.7 100m 1:13.5 881 3333 53 Very happy with this effort, but still more in me I think. Sub 15 seconds - yikes! I don't even ...

Re: Where do I even start???

Hey everyone, I am a Marine stationed in Jacksonville NC. I recently got into indoor rowing about a year ago. Started an online log book and realized I am halfway decent. I have been looking into some indoor rowing competitions and cant seem to find to many. I am not sure if im looking in the right...

Re: 2020 National Championship (USA)?

WIRC and WRIC and has-beens. I noticed CRASH-Bs is still calling themselves the World Championships too despite the last two years in Alexandria and Long Beach and Paris this year. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to Paris or not, so with Boston having the Nationals and a sort of de-facto World Cham...

Re: Tips for a shorter rower

Hi, I have encouraged my wife to try rowing as a way of getting fitter and she wants to lose some weight (her words not mine before I get shot down! ). Unfortunately she is vertically challenged at only 4'11" and the rower is not really registering much of stroke. Any tips for a littlun? She...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Half-hearted effort to set a 30min PB. Went about as well as could be expected, bailing quite early. Brain let me down big time, telling me at the same time that: a) it'd be easy and; b) I had no chance. b) won out. Punished myself with a 10k. With w/u and c/d, got to 16.5k, which left me a ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Did a super hard CrossFit workout with a decent amount of rowing last night in remembrance of 9/11 Start - 2001M Row (for the year) Then 4 rounds (for the 4 planes) of: 9 Rope Climbs (for the month) 11 Bear Complex (for the day) End - 2977M Row (for the number of lives lost) It was pretty brutal and...

30r20 has been around "for ever" I suspect and as Henry said has its roots OTW.
James at Q-Power is a big fan and has written an interesting article

https://i.postimg.cc/QKQX24Cm/20190911-072617.jpg A little test to just see where I am. Intended to aim for 37:20 but I got carried away and almost lost with 3.5k to go and then gurned and grimaced the rest of the way home. I'm still far from top form so this was a nice surprise. "What doesn't kill...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

This might sound super weird, but i actually didnt plan on breaking my 10k PB this morning. Wanted to row some "easy" 10k, but after about 2km i realized: "Hm.. your pace is really good. See if you can beat your PB." (thats why the first 2km were quite slow in comparison to the other 8km). :? Will ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Stu, Henry, Martin, Phil - thanks for the replies. I would normally do a 5K at a moderate to hard pace but was due for a less intense row and my legs were heavy. This would typically have been a SS session but didn't feel up for 30+ minutes either, so I opted to just do the short, slower row - I bar...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I did a short (5k), slow session last night as a recovery row as my legs were tired and sore. I post, as I often wonder - is there any use in these type of sessions or would I be better served just taking the day off or doing some upper body work? I know slower, less intense sessions are good to do ...

Re: Question on warm up.

If you don't remember the details, you might as well just make them up? I appreciate being thought of as someone who might be worth quoting, but literally every statement here is incorrect and it reads like a silly parody of my original anecdote. Can't you just dig up the original? I do agree that ...

Re: Fitness status

Two things: 1. Look at diet. Eat fewer carbs but retain before/after training. Maybe look at intermittent fasting or eating within a "time window". You could even do what I do and learn how many calories are in various foods you eat. You may have to weigh some of your food. After a while you can ha...
