Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Not sure if I have misunderstood here Alex, but each brand has its own speed/work conversion. It will be difficult to get consistent progression across all the different pieces and distances if they're spread across two different types of machines as well. I agree with Tim. 2 mins is quite a short ...

Re: Training Plans?

Been looking on the net and various places. Not new to rowing but new to SkiErg. Looking for a training plan to use for both rowing and Ski combined. It's amazing how little there is out there and most of it is actually someone trying to sell you a subscription to their site. Anyone got any ideas o...

Re: Wr 6k and 5.36.5 2k

And how do you shorten the stroke? You catch further away from the wheel? Bend your legs less? Bend your hips less? You keep the feet flat, this limits the kneebending. So yes the catch will be further away from the wheel. Everything else is the same. Its not complicated, if you do intervals a next...

Re: Biceps won't grow but forearms will

That 6.29 was after not much training, don,t think he ever did much aerobic stuff, he came from triple jumping. Was also before he got stronger, think he was 90 kg ish. Makes sense....I think he went all out for bodybuilding and eschews cardio now. In one of this videos he said even sliding across ...

I've read before that the best 2ks shorten their stroke at the end when getting tired. How does that work?
Legs lock up, so you throw everything you have left. I rate 30/31 during a 2k, the last bit I rate 40 or above. With a much shorter stroke, getting energy out of the upperbody much more.

Re: Tips for a shorter rower

Main thing, shorter people have a smaller frame, so less mass to put energy in the fan.

This means, expect slower time, use a higher rating and keep the drag on the lower side. For the rest, its the same, nomatter what height, the base movement stays the same.

Re: Biceps won't grow but forearms will

Ps, Matt did start in the uk forum, was a Forum Flyer, see ctc results. Pulled decent 2k, 6.29 from memory. That makes me feel better. I'd imagine he was HWT and given the "rule of thumb" I go by of 20s difference over 2K between HWT and LWT, my 6:48 (a bit soft) now looks slightly better. Pr...

Re: Biceps won't grow but forearms will

Another youtuber I sometimes watch is "Brandon Harding". He's not a natty but unlike many is quite open about it. Find use, no use a tough subject. Never used myself, but have been around people who do, have trained in a real hardcore gym, where use was very common. And also between 100% clean and ...

Re: Biceps won't grow but forearms will

And keeping a channel going and comming up with new stuff is tough, impossible if you ask me, thats why he so detailed. Nothing new to tell anymore. Especially difficult if the youtuber doesn't have an additional "slant" to videos. What seems to do well in terms of views and likes among fitness you...

Re: Long & Low

And connecting with my inner nerd, Paul's "law" says that for a 2k pb split of 1:50.8, your 7k pb split would be 1:59.8. So this would be a pace for a 7k TT, not a training piece. Harder than it should have been? I'm not surprised. It would be brutal. That would be free rate, not 20. Brutal is way ...

Re: Long & Low

this reads more like a max effort than what might be intended by the 30/20, but I may have missed something. I find 30 minute rows to be a great foundation workout. I'm circling back to the erg again now and this is where I am starting out. The distance is short enough that I can 'throw down' a bit...
