Re: Am I sick??? shocked by my numbers

On a different not, when you just walk, what hf do you get then?

And, how do feel when you row? If you did not see a hf reading would you not easily put in more effort?

Re: Am I sick??? shocked by my numbers

Hf 100 is extremely carefull  Use HRR, for your cap, and use 70%. Top athletes use lactate testing, and that will be lots higher than 60%. There aerobic cap can be 80/85% in very aerobic cases. Re max, thats not to calculate. Max is simply max. For now just use that 160 ish cap, but later on, ...

Re: High school girl rower- a question

Can’t say much, only that some people are sooner fully grown. And, important, sport is very much about talent, no training can compensate talent. 2 people can work just as hard, but get very different results. While I do agree with the body composition argument for natural plateaus in sport and fit...

Re: Calisthenics HR vs Rowing HR

I see no data of what you actually do on the rower. Its relative easy to row from very easy to getting close to passing out. Its simply how much effort you put it.

Re: Max heart rate

Thank you. It was mainly due to having not checked it for a good 10 years and I was aware it decreases as you get older. I wasn't aware I needed to adjust it to be sport specific - thank you. I'll try interval approach with a couple aimed at being +4 minutes Its not sport specific perse. But more t...

Re: High drag factor

I’m still new to rowing and have been reading up a bit about drag factor and it seems that 100-140 is a reasonable number. On a recent workout my drag factor was 175 and I’m not sure what that means (if anything). The damper setting was 5, distance 7500m, pace 2:11.4. Should I be adjusting the damp...

Re: New Rower

I set the machine between 7 and 8 and my strokes per minute was 38. You need to learn to row. A 7:15 2k is 272 Watts which should not need a rating higher than 25. You are effectively rowing in low gear: very high rating at low work per stroke. To correct this, you need to pull long strokes as hard...

12.5 by strongman mateusz kieliszkowski. He had better form than I expected. 196cm and around 150kg?

First go ever, so can’t be a max. Rowed on cal instead of pace and no pm on video. So it screams, did it again and do it proper.

Re: ridiculously low stroke rate

When I first started last July my goal was to improve in the 500m, 1000m, 2000m and 5000m. Recently my focus is on the 2000m and 5000m because since I’m so unbalanced my short races are decent but long distances are poor. What could help you with your strokerate, is doing rows with “bumps” example ...

Re: Wil my butt ever stop hurting?

Dumb question . I'm 3 weeks into BPP. Been rowing for a few months prior (71K season meters so far) Every time I do a long row (5K+), my backside is hurting the most of anything in my body. Its the one thing that makes me want to stop by far. It's not chafing or nerve pain but just muscle soreness ...

Re: Form Check

Looks fine, what I would change is the folding up. At the catch there is still a big gap between your legs and chest. The less you have that, the more you can use to put energy in the chain. Also, you do not lift your heals, which is partly ankle flexibility. But again, lifting them, would give you ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

New 2K PB at 6:27.8 As promised, I tested my 2K today and I got a PB by 1.6 seconds. I am happy to get a PB especially since my 2K time hadn't changed much from 2019, it was 6:29.9 in March of 2019, and 6:29.4 in March of 2020 and then today - I have only tested it like a couple times other than th...
