Re: Polar OH1 heart rate monitor and PM5

PM5 supports ANT+ and BTLE for HR monitors. Your OH1 will work with either.

I suggest ANT+ since it supports unlimited receiving devices and won't use up a BTLE channel.

Re: Anyone have trouble keeping the rollers and rail clean? ...

I'm pretty meticulous about cleaning the steel rail and seat rollers before every use. But it seems like they get crud on them pretty easily. Does anyone else find that even the smallest bit of lint or dog hair on the rail becomes an obnoxious "bump" feel when rowing? Concept2 has documented this v...

Re: Model C PM3 Doesn't Register Rowing

Update: I downloaded the Erg Data app for Android, and after a PM3 firmware upgrade that needed to be done, got that working on my phone... it still only also only works when the PM3 is in the down position because of the stereo plug connection as mentioned above, but at least I now have a secondar...

Re: Used model D, any advice appreciated

I'm sure the erg is fine - they're a "buy it for life" item - but as Citroen wrote, it's got an ancient PM3 and $1100 is insane. (never mind the $1350 they're asking) Keep watching the Row2k classifieds, be willing to drive a few hours: https://www.row2k.com/classifieds/index.cfm?view_cat&cat=rowing...

Re: "Scan icon" in lower RH corner of Ergdata app??

That is, indeed, NFC.

IMO, more useful on something like a gym-erg. At home your phone/ErgData should remember your rower after you've connected it once.

Seriously, as a dude in your age class, you inspire me to row more and better.

Re: Which cell phone for pm5 / ergdata ?

What would be a good price for an S4 or S5, and does locked or unlocked make any difference? Morning John! If you never intend to use it as a telephone, you can buy a "locked" version because you'll never be connecting it to a cellular phone service. Locked phones should come at a discount versus u...

Re: Which cell phone for pm5 / ergdata ?

Citroen, thank you for all the detailed information! Since I use Linux, I'll need to figure out how to update the firmware. First, are you going to use this as a cell phone or are you just looking for a basic Android device to use with ErgData? If the latter, I would strongly suggest an older phone...

Re: Which cell phone for pm5 / ergdata ?

First, are you going to use this as a cell phone or are you just looking for a basic Android device to use with ErgData? If the latter, I would strongly suggest an older phone like a Galaxy S5 or S6 to save money - those can be had for a song. The S8 is overkill. Citroen is of course correct you can...

seat & pad options - what have you tried?

Hey all. What are y'all using for seats and padding? I bought the EndureRow which I like but still find firm, and benefits from extra padding. The most success I've had was with two Concept2 foam seat pads stuck together - one didn't seem to be thick enough. This works nicely on the stock seat, or t...

thanks Carl, not really good time to be spending £150 on a new PM. and I am not great at installing items like that anyway. will contact the person now. appreciate your help Adding a datapoint: there are PM4s floating around the used market that'll save you money over a PM5. They'll add better wire...

Re: C2 clones popping up

I'd like to collect more data on these so when I get the inevitable "which rower to buy" question I can unequivocally point out the deficiencies. The person in the linked thread above already mentioned the monitor's shortcomings: no way to display drag factor, enter intervals or rest periods. Pleas...

C2 clones popping up

I've started seeing knock-offs of C2 Model D's showing up in the local classified ads lately - really close ones like this one labeled the XM Fitness Air Rower : www.treadmillfactory.ca/xm-fitness-air-rower I wouldn't trust one as far as I can throw it (and I'm happy to have a Model D at home) but i...

Re: Concept 2 Model D Preowned - Help Needed

Yip, I'm being nosey to see what happened there, because it looked like there were no doubts in the end. :) I'm not surprised at the outcome. The last listing was bid-up far beyond the price of a new Model D - a recipe for buyer's remorse. Seller should have just listed it as a "buy it now" with a ...
