Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Good luck to you too, with your tempo skills you will do very well in that comp :) Thanks, good for me that anaerobic skills are about as important for a 1k as aerobic skills  Haha, true that, seems like the breaking point between aerobic and anaerobic is somewhere in the 1k range. Decided to ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Thanks for the excellent advices MartinSH4321, most helpful :) I will definitely be looking into trying to implement what you are mentioning here. Need to get some speed in if going to try the 1k competition in beginning of March! Cheers, I hope it helps. I've planned to do the 1k too, as we're bot...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Yeah, it's so aggravating to come back after illness. I did the same as you did, easy and short rows, and felt bad, but from one day to the next it gets better. Only a few more days and you're back. Today I planned a long UT2 session, so decided to do a HM. Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 1:27:38...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Still not 100% fit, so decided to do a medium hard session: 4' R20 200W 3' R22 220W 2' R24 240W 1' R26 260W 3 times, so 30', no rest, last minute faster 300W R30. Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 30:00.0 7,729m 1:56.4 222 1062 22 148 It felt harder then expected, but OK, hopefully I can do a very ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Long time no post on this thread! After another messy session of indecision and just row :? ... ~7k @ 2:03.9 ~15min @ 2:01.8 ~10min @ 2:03.0 ~6min @ 1:54.8 ...then decided to have a crack at the 1 min... probably only the 3rd time have tried the minute. Managed to add 5m so a new PB of 326m. Time M...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Thank you both winniewinser and MartinSH4321. I was surprised myself, usually 1:42 pace feels heavy from first pull, but this time the first 5 minutes were feeling quite ok and controlled. After this I was working hard, and on the last 1k I finished at 3:20.6 with average heart rate 189(which is my...

Re: New to erg, what is your average/peak force?

An easy way to check your stroke quality is the SPI (stroke power index), which is watts / SPM (strokes per minute). For example, if you row with 100W at 20 SPM your SPI is 5 (low). Male HWT rower are normally a good bit higher (around 8-12 depending on fitness and strength), and elite rower can do...

Inching in on that sub17, down 15,8 seconds since 21st of January. New PB 17:04.9 :D Felt strong today!
Great PB, very strong, congrats!
Looking at your signature there are more PBs to come, esp. 10k and 500m are ready to be crushed :)

Re: New to erg, what is your average/peak force?

I've bought a concept2 and I'm doing 2k's. I'm noticing I don't have much power out of the drive, and my force curve is quite flat and long, and I'm pretty sure my Average Force is low. Here is my numbers from the latest 2k: Stroke Count: 253 Drive Length: 1.27m Average Force: 44lbs Drag Force: 110...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

https://i.postimg.cc/0z25fvf5/20200219-073749.jpg I fancied a different type of session than what was on Ergwod so I did my team teammate's recent session 10 mins on 3r with a target HR of circa 160 i.e. 90% of max HR. It was supposed to be just over 10k PB pace (1:49.0) but that seemed too slow so...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Channelling my inner comic book guy today with a candidate for Worst. Workout. Ever. Supposed to be doing 10x1000 r1, but could only manage a diabolical 4 reps. New job stresses and all that. I need to reset the intervals to be a bit slower. Bad for the ego, but this is obviously too hard now (alth...
