Re: Challenge progress

Apparently, there's a way to see this, but it took some literacy skills, which I have, but wasn't using very well. Just had to click on Logbook, and Challenges, and it was in a summary paragraph under Current Challenges.

Challenge progress

Anyone have any insight as to when Concept2 is going to show our progress (or lack thereof) on this month's individual challenge? It seems it would be a simple thing for them to implement, following the same template as the holiday challenge. Adding all these daily rows together is getting a bit dul...

Re: Why I am not loosing weight?

Merry Christmas! Sylwana811 - I will do my best to give you facts that may be helpful. There are more opinions than facts in any forum. Some call it "bro-science", as many present what was true for them, but may not be true for everyone. Some say to do slower, longer, steady state workouts - like a ...

One half of our ownership team thought it would be a good idea to have a 500m for time "Crew Cup" event. Most of us ...

Re: Is it "OK" to squat the day after deadlifting?

While I would defer to StrengthCoachWill, there are a ton of variables at play. But - I would say this: given the recent published studies by Brad Schoenfeld, we now know that for hypertrophy, the more sets the better, but 3 sets is really the optimum, as beyond that does produce gains, but at a dec...

Re: Advice on supplement program?

I'm 51, going on 52. I understand why you'd want a boost in endurance, recovery, etc - and immediately think of t-levels as a way to handle that. First - have you had your t-levels tested? If not - do that before you think about any kind of steroid use. You may not need to increase your t-levels at ...

Re: Rate Creep

Thanks all for your replies. I think ...and it reveals how slowly I think!, that my issue was this: in my 2k pr, my pace was 1:41.9 In the Pete's plan, it had me rowing 7 rounds of 500m at that same pace, with an 8th rep as fast as I could. But, I was trying to keep my rate at 24. I couldn't figure ...

Rate Creep

Someone coined the term "Rate Creep" in a post here, so I've taken the liberty of using it. In the beginning of a row, my thoughts are to keep a consistent rate during a row, yet invariably, whether due to fatigue, or just letting my mind think of something else, my rate invariably creeps upward. I'...

Re: HR zone / workout question

I am not an expert at rowing, but consider myself knowledgeable in the area of fat loss. Anecdotally, I was 250#s a year ago, and an now 205. I dialed my diet in - making a note of EVERY single thing that went into my gaping maw. Granted, the calorie counts were found on labels and on the internet -...

Re: 2k Mental breakdown

There are many others who know far more than I do about this. That said, I really love rowing for time on the 2k. It's the sub 7 minute goal that's kept me interested in rowing for this past year. (finally got it!) I recommend you do some YouTube viewing on 2k strategy. https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Training is HARD!

Was that last rep the best you still could? I would like to see that last rep to be a good bit faster, certainly at this stage. Its training not racing. Best you do a round of the full plan. Thats 6 weeks. After that you have good bit more info what you can and can,t. And also about you hf. During ...

Re: Training is HARD!

If you felt already ok after 2/3 min, I wonder how hard you really went. You really need that rest if you go for it. Longer sessions, should be a good bit slower, think 2k plus 18/22 seconds and rating 18/22. Certainly do not race those. Breathing should stay calm. You do 2/3 hard sessions a week, ...

Re: Training is HARD!

Thanks. I saw 5:00 for the rest..it just seemed like a very long rest. My heart rate seems to drop below 100 right around the 2:15-2:30 mark on all but the last two rows, where it drops to 115 by the 3:00 mark. It just seemed ..unproductive to sit around and row at a slow pace. I'm so accustomed to ...
