Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

What a week! I have thought only a small amount of how I will train this year. I confess, as much as I enjoy rowing, I NEED to lift weights more often, and do longer/slower rows on the days in between. Still, with the start of the new season, I thought it might be nice to compare my present fitness ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

I got a decent 15049 meters on the 60 minute row. Because of the new season, I'm #1 in the world! I think it would have been a top 100 last week...but I'll take #1 for today, at least. (in my age group) I've never sat on the rower that long without getting off at least a minute to get the blood movi...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Got a 15.9 on a 100 meter bracket challenge today, beating my PR by .2

Unfortunately, I got it in the semi-finals, instead of the last race. Came in second, because my last effort was a 16.6. Oh well, I can still enjoy being ranked 30th for my age for another 3 days, lol.

Re: 14 yr old holds all records for his age group

6'5" ? at 14?

Yeah, I'm a little jealous...I'd love to have the #1 spot in any category for my age group. I keep asking myself how much better I'd do if I were taller, but then I realize, I probably would have played basketball or something...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Also the way you trained, your last 2k, was a nightmare (in my book) but a session like that takes a lot out of you. You also started to do low rate work. Ad it all up... Really look at, as if you are training someone else, would you let someone do what you do yourself? I totally get it you are pus...

Re: How much does 2K time drop in off season?

It's an interesting question. I consider myself still a bit of a novice, despite over a year rowing. I say this because despite logging over 2 million meters, it's only been in the past couple of weeks I've done any rate work. And still have a lot to learn. Each time I've done a 2k for time, though,...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Regarding the Pete Plan... It could be my age, or it could be some of the other stuff I do outside of rowing (weights, walking, bike riding) but as I look at the plan, my legs just scream at me for even thinking about doing the 8 reps of 500m more than once a week. Even once a week, they scream in r...

Phil,
Really fine result!

I know all too well how that last 100 meters feels, mentally and physically!

Re: Marc Megna podcast

Gammmmo, Thanks, I think if you listen to the podcast, my question (poorly formed) will make more sense. I understand that there are a host of factors that can make a 2k time trial slightly easier or slightly harder. Sleep (or lack of it), nutrition, wearing a new pair of shoes with a softer sole, o...

Marc Megna podcast

Recently, Justin Farina, known as The Garage Athlete (coach) was on Megna's podcast. A question was posed that really made me think. Those of us who have rowed a 2k or a 5k ..or any of the distance/time rows that Concept 2 has a log for...we know how hard it is to endure through a brutal 2k for time...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

https://indoorsportservices.co.uk/training/interactive This link used to go to a site that would let you enter your 2k time and other variables and give a structured program. I'm guessing the site doesn't exist any more, but I know it worked a few weeks ago. Anyone else know of other sites that do ...

Re: Seat comfort

Thanks. I had thought that might be it, given the cut-outs in the cushion sold by C2. But, I guess I could be sitting too far forward or backwards. I'll give what you suggested a try. Nothing to lose, and plenty of seconds off the longer row PRs to gain!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

BTW... did you do the last 15 seconds cutting the slide and really pumping the arms as you mentioned on the training thread... can see your rate goes up to 49! :?: Yes, I did exactly that. The projected finish showed 6:48, and I did the short stroke and knocked off the second and a half I n...
