Re: Video: Critique Requested

Interesting idea about lowering the feet. Just a couple of weeks ago I lowered them one notch to the second lowest setting and it seemed to reduce some stress on my hips (I'm lacking somewhat in flexibility there....). After I get more use to the latest changes, I might try the bottom one. Short upd...

Re: New user, New concept 2 model D drag factor

My machine (bought in January) has a DF range 76-206 which is in line with what you have. I think this is common for recently manufactured C2s. The PM5 takes this all into account by measuring how much the flywheel slows down each stroke. This is why it important to use the DF instead of the leaver ...

Re: Video: Critique Requested

Do you mean increasing the Work/stroke (watts/spm)? I expect this would require decreasing the spm and maybe increasing the DF a bit. You don't need to increase DF. Just push harder with your legs. That will give more watts/spm. Maybe I should explain my thinking better. Simply pushing harder with ...

Re: Video: Critique Requested

Thanks all for the excellent feedback! In summary, I need to: Stop slouching Don't go so far forward with the knees/shins Pivot more at the hips Relax more on the recovery hjs: You mention I should make it stronger. Do you mean increasing the Work/stroke (watts/spm)? I expect this would require decr...

Re: Weight not really coming off

Thanks! @alien878 nice to see someone with simiar goals! Am I just using a really wonky calculator (see above / below): I started out with a 140HR target (mid UT1) and about a 2:20 pace Did you mean UT1 or UT2? I started a few months ago with a 1 hour UT2 pace of 2:30 and that is now down to around...

Re: New erg feeling DF

Which is what I used to do at the gym. (130ish) I now have to have this new C2 @ 98-102ish to get the same heart rate (130-150), same watts (average 140) and same spm (20-22). That is all, apologies if questioning finding the most efficient DF/SPM and posting the link has took it off topic. ...

Re: Weight not really coming off

We seem to have similar goals targets. I started out with a 140HR target (mid UT1) and about a 2:20 pace. Since January, my logbook indicates I have burned 56,349 calories, which works out to about 7.3 kg using the generic (probably inaccurate) formula. I have lost 5-6 kg, so I am happy with the dir...

Re: ErgData fine during use then fails to record data

I had this happen a couple of times when I selected "Yes" on the phone. I found that I had no problems if I instead exited on the PM by pressing MENU and not touching the phone until it had recorded the workout.

Re: Focusing on the PM and your pace vs not watching and/or letting your mind wander

I've started to look away and see if I can maintain the same pace/rate for long periods of time. Maybe I'm a bit old-school, but it seems the monitor can become a bit of a crutch replacing feel if constantly monitored. I even close my eyes sometimes which was really weird at first (I thought I was g...

Re: New erg feeling DF

I purchased my Model D/PM5 in January. Manufacture date 10/2018. The DF on 5 is 106. Everything is clean and there was no change last time I oiled the chain. I've seen a few reports of low DF and slow place readings on new ergs. Maybe something has changed recently? Unfortunately, I don't have anyth...

Re: Tight Hips

Thanks Dangerscouse and StrengthCoachWill for the feedback. I decided to try an (very) relaxed 3x2000 to see how it felt after some good hip stretches. No snaps and absolutely no pain. While it is too early to know if changing my stroke and stretching differently stopped the snaps, the no pain (whic...

Tight Hips

I've been rowing for about 6 months now. I've managed to lose 5kg and am almost down to my desired weight. Now that most of my tummy is gone (yeah!), I started to move my body closer to the legs on the catch making sure to keep my rear far enough away from my feet. The stroke was feeling better that...
