Re: Pete Plan Thread

BPP 9.1, 9000m After an awful end to last week (was fatigued with lack of sleep and under eating), wanted to start this week right. Took a couple days off and made sure to sleep/eat properly. Wanted to do some rate work with this session at a constant pace. Discovered that I can easily settle into 1...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Hello all. First post with a dumb question about the BPP I didn't see answered anywhere: Looking at Week 1 for instance, we see three core workouts followed by two additionals in brackets. What is the intended daily schedule for these? Are they intended to be completed straight through M-TU-W-TH-F ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

hi all...have been off the rower (and everything else) for a couple of weeks with a cold. At the age of 49 the common cold seems to wipe me out for a couple of weeks from doing any hard exercise. Decided I'd had enough time off so went for a 6K hard effort for PP 2.5. Probably not the best idea for...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

BPP 7.2, 7x500, 2' rest After an awful 8k the other day, I went into this interval session yesterday with guarded apprehension. Turns out it was my best row so far on the BPP. First time averaging under 1:50/500m :) https://i.imgur.com/gaj4kle.png Today's 8k (BPP 7.3) was a nice recovery row, UT2 @ ...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

I don't know about the logbook, but the PM5 takes the HR at the end of the interval. That's why I set the intervals to be short. For example, you could' break 8k into 50 160m splits to get a better average. Interesting, Ray - seems strange that it picked up a HR that wasn't even in the file. Oh wel...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

BPP 7.1, 8000m I wanted to try to match my time on last week's 7500m - and beat it just slightly. This workout didn't feel great though - I was a little dehydrated and probably didn't warm up enough. HR drifted a touch on the last 3200m and I had to constantly back off the pace. Also - wondering if ...

Re: Training tips

Thanks for this Martin, what a resource! I’ll take a look. Might try the lighter program as just don’t have the time for 6 sessions a week. Sounds like a funny question, but do you just let the screen reset itself during the rest periods? And then start rowing again? And does the concept2 keep a re...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

BPP 6.4 (optional), 5000m I went into this with the intent to stick to my last 7500m pace, but that first 500m felt so good I decided to push it up a bit. My last long piece was at an easy UT1, so here I wanted to stay in AT. Ended up nearly 2 minutes faster than my 1st 5k at the beginning of the BP...

Re: Ask Me Anything: Strength Training for Rowing/Erging

Hey Will!! You're awesome for taking the time to do this :) My question: I've been suffering from medial epicondylitis for about a year with varying intensity. It does not impact my rowing (on the erg) at all, but it does flare up from certain movements in the gym. I'm following a plan with strictl...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

Ray, I must admit I was a little confused whe I saw your numbers - until you mentioned it was on the SkiErg :) How does that compare, intensity-wise, to the C2? Definitely loving these newbie gains! Did the 2nd 7500m piece - BPP 6.3 - today and my avg split was 3 seconds faster than last week’s 7000...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

BPP 6.2, 3x2000m/4' rest So I mistakenly forgot to set the rest period on the PM5, so it kind of messed up the rhythm of the session. Had to create a new workout for the 2nd and 3rd intervals In any case, the first 2k felt really good - I didn't feel that it was anywhere close to an "all out" and ha...

https://i.postimg.cc/JtvdsfrF/20190322-071630.jpg A session to test my excuses/ resolve. Intended to do half at a good pace and then slow down. I managed to keep it going until 7.5k and then slowed down...and then got carried away again. Nice sweaty metres. Nice work! I’ve only just started trainin...

Re: Pete Plan Thread

BPP 6.1 7500m Wanted to push myself a little on this one, so I upped the rate to r21 and planned to stay within high UT1 / AT (155-161). Felt really good - actually can start to feel the impacts of improved fitness - took longer to get up to target HR, and needed less backing off to keep it under 16...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

That part is a killer for me as well. However doing 10k a day but eating similar to what I did previously when I wasn't actively rowing - it's making a difference. I think I'm a miserable person to be around if I'm really hungry, so I eat when I'm hungry. My food choices are pretty basic, because I...
