Re: If you ever wanted evidence of the power of the mind...

From a training standpoint, this article talks about the faster intervals producing lactate (duh) while the slower ones improve the processing of lactate for energy. https://www.podiumrunner.com/run-faster-by-improving-your-lactate-clearance-rate_52609 Like so many exercise articles online, it needs...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

60' today (13974m) Most distance I've ever covered in a week at 61.7k. Can't say it was meticulously planned, but hopefully it's all helping. Just saw this, great work! This will help a lot, my (newbie) experience :D Thanks Martin, It was bolstered by the 16.5k on Thursday. As at least 10k of those...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

5k today. Paced it nice enough, and i would like to say this was a good sesh, but nothing could be further from the truth. It started to get ugly just 1.2k in and never got any better from there onwards!! The lack of erg time sure does let you know about it quickly. And for all the good weights ses...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Interesting! I haven't been training long enough to really give advice. But I've been finding the PP pacing method pretty good, when used weekly rather than 3 weeks, so you normally still have some supercompensation to help you improve. I've then been adding "resets" similar to power lifting routin...

2k w/u then 8x500 r 3'30" <> Can't say I really enjoyed this (although I did feel pleased afterwards). Felt like I was holding my breath the whole time. Re: If you ever wanted evidence of the power of the mind...

A teammate of mine has done this exact method for a 10k PB (33:17!!!!). He thinks that if he tried maintain the 1:39 pace constantly he would have failed, but alternate intensities made it a lot more bearable. I need to give this a try sometime soon as it defo sounds like there are some tangible be...

Re: If you ever wanted evidence of the power of the mind...

<> As we all know, endurance sports are hugely in the mind and especially so erging with it's lack of visual feedback from competitors and course features to break the effort up or use to spur us on, but the more sporadic nature of the above effort with the crutch of a "rest" always round the corne...

Re: Long & Low

this reads more like a max effort than what might be intended by the 30/20, but I may have missed something. I find 30 minute rows to be a great foundation workout. I'm circling back to the erg again now and this is where I am starting out. The distance is short enough that I can 'throw down' a bit...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Half-hearted effort to set a 30min PB. Went about as well as could be expected, bailing quite early. <> Next time I'll set myself a target pace that I'm a bit more confident in. These sessions are important experience too, sometimes it's not the right day for a PB. At least you did a lot of ...
