Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

6kR19 for me today to be part of the challenge but have full energy for the 5k TT this weekend. Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 22:33.7 6,000m 1:52.8 244 1139 19 It was hard, but ok, think a 90-95% effort. <> Nice one Martin. Good luck in your 5k. Going 20% over-distance seems like good prep for ...

Re: Training more but getting slower/not improving

The only thing I remember doing more of was weights before I started going downhill. I was in the gym 3/4/5x a week with my friends Could there be a cause-effect relationship? What did you do there? From what one reads, strengthening works by damage > repair > growth > increase of muscle fibre, whi...

Re: Training more but getting slower/not improving

Another aspect is that the closer you get to being in tip top condition, the harder it is to maintain that year round. Top athletes periodise to peak at the right time. Henry (hjs) would be able to tell you much more than I can, but as I understand it, the real elite have an entire schedule mapped o...

Re: Indoor Rowing Form

Hello and welcome, Yeah, I don't think your back is excessively rounded, although it is a bit. Of course it's something we all need to watch out for with our own form. I tend to agree with Jim - you've been overdoing it. You're obviously very fit from gym and running, and that's allowed you to do mo...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

<> Hahahaha....not all good meters  How are you enjoying C2 ownership? It's great. But it has finally put to bed any lingering hope I may have had that every other erg I'd ever rowed on was somehow grimy, old, rusty or otherwise compromised and that my true form was actually five splits quick...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Thanks fellas.....gives me something to think about as the isolation ticks on  . I'll contine with the sessions as I have found a better rhythm with them. I still find sometimes I am searching during the pieces for the stroke rate that keeps my HR from creeping past 70% whilst also maintainin...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I'm not sure whether I need to moderate your pidgin German. It's Rigelian, if that helps get me out of the naughty corner. Google translate didn't recognise that, so I'm assuming it means "Jolly well done old bean" in Rigelian. Indeed it does. I'll temper my Simpsons-quoting in future.

<> Yeah, owning your own erg is definitely helping in keeping the numbers high, I am also glad I have my own, I see the prices have been raised 30-50% in online stores here in Norway now. My last 3 weeks....all rowing....

03/16/20 76,459m 6:06:15.2
03/23/20 86,618m 6:31:15.7
03/30/20 71,917m 5:53:07.0

Was surprised I'd done that much TBH.

Re: 10k Training Program

Something that worked really well for me was to do a hardish (but not TT) distance once a week, going from 6k one week, 7k the next, etc until 10k, all at the same pace. Then I'd increase the split by one (i.e. get faster by 1s/500m) and start over at 6k. So I'd get one split faster every month or s...
