Re: Handle width - too narrow

I found the old wooden handle too narrow. I changed to the newer one - and still thought that narrow! But after a million metres or so I’ve got used to it and it doesn’t trouble me at all now. I hang my pinkies off the end so row with only three fingers on each hand.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Party a PB brag, partly a "Well Done" to those ahead of me. I'm 52, been doing weights for a few years, got my Erg a month ago to give me some CV fitness. First serious crack at 2k last night, aiming for sub 9 min, sneaked in at 8.58. My HR was at 145 alarmingly soon, and topped out at 160, which -...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Thank you Max and Winnie. My pacing was as follows: 1:43.9 - Started with a very strong 20 strokes; then eased pace to around 1:46 1:46.0 - Maintaining 1:46 1:45.4 - Started to increase pace at 800m to go to 1:45ish 1:43.6 - A combination of hanging on and then going all out from the last 250m Stro...

Re: Weight training for rowing.

My son has strong legs and a 3RM of over 200kg. One of his tough lighter workouts is 10 x10 at 60kg with 25 seconds rest. He says he doesn’t think he could do twice that number of reps unless there were long rest periods.
It must take hours to do the 1300 reps.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Managed to get over a nice benchmark today. First time sub 1:30 for 500m. Wasn’t even planning on trying but didn’t know what else to do on my lunch break! Felt ok doing a warm up with some quick bursts so gave it a go after a few stretches. 1.8s off my previous best. Actually feel like a could go ...

Re: Warmup for timed trials

What kind of warmup do you do for timed trials, such as 2km and 5km and longer rows like an hour? Are you going steady for a certain amount of time? Trying to get it heart rate up to a certain point? Doing some light intervals? For a 2k I do about 20 min warm up. 3 x 4 mins steadily building from a...

Miracle cure sought - hamstring

40 years of rugby with no hamstring problems - tight five forwards don’t have hamstrings!! Recent history - went on an active holiday for a week on my feet all day every day and walking up to 8 miles a day. Felt the old knee getting steadily puffier and uncomfortable. Got back and gave it a few days...

Re: Pm5 hr screen

I would like to see only hr screen with time and spm, avg hr, and possibly meters, without pace or avg pace, since as retired profesional rower it is allways hard for me to keep hr low when I see pace numbers and wanting to keep them lowest possible that results in higher hr than I would prefer. Tra...
