Re: Rowing in College?
It wouldn't shock me if the Woman's coach at his university stuffed OP in an empty seat in the tanks if they had one. Maybe my thinking here is 70s rather than 90s or current. (I'm willing to share my rose colored glasses). It sounds nice, but I dont think a coach would be willing to do that. There...

Super Week/Supercompensation
The concept of a Super Week has been embraced by some in the running world, heres an interesting Runner's World article outlining what it is: https://www.runnersworld.com/advanced/a20825057/super-training-blocks/ Put simply, "supercompensation training is a simple, if radical, idea: on top of alread...

Re: Returning to rowing after vasectomy
I had mine about 3 years ago and had no problems, doc told me to take it easy for the first week, started with easy rowing after 2 days rest, no issues, but had friends who needed longer rest and had (minor) issues, so I think I had luck :) Wow! only two days rest, very ambitious. I can't remember ...

Returning to rowing after vasectomy
I wanted to see if anyone here had personal experience with returning to rowing following a vasectomy I had mine on 8/19, and recovery has gone well so far. The physician who did the procedure recommended a week of complete rest, and I’m going to stick to that, and then ease back over the next few w...

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Glad to hear that the positive split is somewhat expected, and probably isnt something to focus too much time on.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Finally got under 1:20 for 500m. Just barely held off the fly and die at the end. I think for my next round of 500m training I’ll get some higher volume days in at race pace, as my last 3 TTs at this distance were a tough fight at the end. I understand that every 500m TT has some amount of slowing d...

Re: watts per stroke vs stroke rate for max efforts
You can get a feel for "elite ideal" stroke rate by looking the the Olympic stroke rate data. Oars can be adjusted to have greater or lessor mechanical advantage, so rower really can choose their stroke rate. To bad C2 doesn't publish SPM data for ranked workouts. Olympic athletes experiment and ch...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
July CTC in the books 10x199m 1r honestly had no idea how to pace this. one of my sub7 teammates said 500m pace +6 but I haven't ever done a 500m. I estimate about 1.26 so I thought I'd gone out too quick the first two. Then it felt comfortable mid way through and I thought I'd gone out too slow. T...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Now 6 consecutive weeks of >50k/week, I'm starting to feel some aerobic fitness gains on top of the strength and sprinting gains I made in the spring and early summer (though it pales in comparison to some of the true sprinters here). Took my first crack at the speed pyramid since October 2021. Did ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Hey,I have been thinking about the warm-up and cool-down rowing,I never getting a chance to try,so is it that important?couse I dont have much time on rowing. My opinion is that the shorter and more intense the workout is, the more important a warmup is. You could theoretically do a 60min test piec...
