Danish Rowing Plan VS Polarization

Recently I was able to come across a plan thanks to my coach based on what the Danish Lightweights were during the early 2000’s. Unfortunately I can’t share the whole plan as it’s not mine to share. The mileage varies from about 120-150km a week compared to what you would see nationals squads doing ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I don’t post here too often now but I have been rowing on the water quite a bit this fall in a single and double. It’s been fun. I did the virtual head of the Charles race on the erg today. I may try it on the water later this week. 2.5k wu 16:42.6 4702m 1:46.6 30 3:33.1 1000m 1:46.5 30 3:34.6 2000m...

Hand levels, setting the boat, and the recovery

I have been rowing on the water now for about 4 months. Mostly in a single and double. I am really struggling with the recovery and my hand position. I have my oarlocks at even levels for washers. My coach has me leading with my left hand and my right follows behind. I am having a bit of trouble wit...

Re: Continuing rowing? Or back to another sport?

Based on my learning curve and fitness I’m confused as to whether I should keep rowing after or go back to triathlon. If I want to race the Ironman I want I need to sign up very soon. But I also want to see my potential in this sport. I raced triathlon at an elite level and I do like rowing, just n...

Re: Continuing rowing? Or back to another sport?

I assume you're 25 years old and male? Your 2k is really good, especially for a LWT, but it's no way near elite level. If you were nudging sub 6, and you were still in your teens, then maybe, and that is a very big maybe, you might be able to consider it. If you look at last year's 2k LWT 19-29 ran...

Continuing rowing? Or back to another sport?

Hey everyone, I’m not sure if this is the right place to post but hopefully it is. I started erging about a year ago after competing in triathlon for about 10 years. I had quick success pulling a 6:48 2k after a few weeks last August. I pulled a 6:42 in February and a few months ago a 6:34. I’m thin...

Re: Relatively Weak 2km Time

I would work at lower rates like others have said and fix your form so you are using your legs more. I come from a triathlon background so I’m aerobically fit. I erged a 6:54 2k within my first week on the erg, 6:48 after 3 weeks. My best time now is 6:42. I do have quite a large pb in me, but the c...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

It’s been a while since I posted. I’ve been pretty busy with my teaching placement and life but I’ve still been putting in the work. After worlds I started just doing steady state with the odd low AT work. It’s been paying off. Steady state is around 1:58-2:01 depending on the day. Did my first high...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Did 4x1200 starting at 6k goal pace and then descended. Did the first 3 at 120 drag and the last one at 112. My doctor wants me to take the weekend off so he can test my blood again as I had high CK levels before to look into a possible autoimmune disorder. I’m going to take the extra rest to test a...

Re: Figuring out the right drag factor

Drag is tough, due to multiple (and sometimes contradictory) variables. Having said that, my personal experience and logic is aligned with Henry's, which might be relevant considering our vastly different approaches. I am a high-drag guy. 1k and under I use full drag (around 220 on my machine). And...

Re: Figuring out the right drag factor

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out drag factor for myself. I started erging back in July on an old model B. Pulled a 6:54 on my 3rd erg. Drag factor was unknown but it was probably very high. Got on a model D in august and trained around 130 and pulled a 6:48 after 3 weeks of erging. Then I fou...

Based on a quick look at the C2 Logbook rankings I'd say ~6:30 for the faster ones.
6:30 for a lightweight maybe! I would say if you want to be looked at as a heavyweight you need to be under 6:20. 6:10 for a lot of interest.
