The literace coastal is a lot wider than a standard 1x, and also shorter. I think I would have been just fine. I also had a very good instructor, which really helps. They make another model, you can look at their website, which may be even easier to learn on.

At the moment, only about once/week. I had a long layoff after an achilles tendon tear, and resulting surgery, last September.
Going to try to get it up to 2 or maybe 3 times per week, which may be a stretch with work schedule. Of course, I erg more than that, in my garage....
