Re: Random thoughts from a new owner

You can then also throw in the different style that a person has https://www.biorow.com/RBN_en_files/2006RowBiomNews.pdf (page three onwards has a quite nice summary /intro to the concept). There's lots of different opinions on the best style - and on the water vs erging has variances too. as long ...

Re: Random thoughts from a new owner

I've decided I won't take it apart or stand it up each time even though its taking up a lot of space in my living room. Another benefit of having it just sitting there, ready for use, is that it makes it easier to just hop on and get a quick workout. If it takes a while to prepare it that gives the...

Re: Random thoughts from a new owner

I wish there was some small latch or something to stop the seat rolling. I've had to move it around a lot and it caught me by surprise a few times. 10" bungee cord to the rescue! I suspect its entirely possible to row with incorrect technique for long periods and not feel it. Not feel the incorrect...

Random thoughts from a new owner

I've just bought a C2 (used model D), so I don't have anything much to contribute yet other than questions, but wanted to share some initial thoughts. - you don't appreciate the low weight unless you handle it in person - I wish there was some small latch or something to stop the seat rolling. I've ...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

Made my own swivel bush from a bar of solid extruded phosphorous bronze bearing material, its a "lasts a lifetime" version. Without any design knowledge, but with a decent mechanical engineering background. This part is desgined to wear out be easily replaceable. Probably (my interpretation) to pre...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

Update - I've purchased it !! I want to do a full clean of the flywheel, just a bit hesitant of any risk, but in the meantime its ok to just turn up damper to get a dag of say 110-120 right? Congratulations! No risk at all setting the damper lever "to 11" if that's what you want. I wouldn't worry m...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

I'm still not clear if weights are there or you need to remove more parts to access them? Can I just use a vacuum blower on the fan blades after removing the perforated strip, without removing the side panel, as the C2 official video says? rather not risk anything else. Is that going to be enough? ...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

On the RowErg, the entire side panel can come off without issue. There are four bolts that keep it in its place. You can remove the screen by loosening the bolts a bit, but when you remove the bolts, the side panel can be removed. My impression is that the D and E work the same way (my gym has some...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

Is this still worth buying given its from a gym with lot of use and above details? If you aren't in the mood to spend the $$$ on a brand new one, if other used ones in your area are a bit more expensive, and if it appears to be in overall good condition (the low-ish DF is easily remedied) then I sa...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

If you have access to the rower yourself you can get a rough idea of how much it's been used by examining the top of the rail surface and the seat rollers themselves. You can also look for abnormal wear on the foot straps, and other load bearing / wear areas of the foot plates. If you like the pric...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

https://www.concept2.com/service/indoor-rowers/model-d There should be a label on the machine itself. Ds date from 2003 to 2021. 1622021 in the PM probably means 16 feb 2021, so it's effectively new, unless the PM has been replaced. I've a C dating before 2003. The flywheel stopped engaging a few d...

Re: thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

The "lifetime meters" reflects the age of the PM5, not necessarily the machine. If it was used in a gym, I'd expect it to be much, much higher. That said, C2s are pretty robust and the parts are replaceable. If it is in good working condition, it'll sell for several hundred dollars. Since COVID, it...

thoughts on this used C2 (and meaning of numbers)

Looking at a used c2, Its a model D with PM5. seller sent photo of info screen with these numbers - PM5 HW: 431474070 1622021 NV 7200-000370-906 Model D/E 680628 lifetime meters from what I understand the no. of meters shouldn't be a concern, right? I don't know what the numbers mean, I tried to goo...

Re: this seems like a good technique video?

YouTube link removed Its not from Dark horse or Trainingtall, the 2 most popular channels I think, and its not even for the C2. I found it just browsing youtube as I've been watching a lot of rowing videos lately. I'm no expert but this seems correct and its short and to the point. Its also quite o...
