Re: Rowing with DVT

Apologies if this subject has appeared before but I have been diagnosed with a DVT and am concerned about future rowing. I am working for the moment in Bahrain and the doctors here don't seem to understand what rowing is all about! I have no idea what caused this problem, I do have (well controlled...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Slept poorly last night and came up with the idea of trying to improve my half marathon personal best. :? My aim was to stay below 2:00/500m. Last PB was 1:26:12.8 (2:02.5/500m). Luckily, it worked out nicely, but it was some serious work and a lot of sweat :o https://i.imgur.com/qMkAgYR.png Wow th...

Re: Free Stuff

Don't forget to check your mileage occasionally, and take advantage of Concept2's generous loot incentives. I just happened to glance at my bikeErg meters on the CHALLENGES tab, and ... zounds ... I've passed 5 MM, which entitles me to a complimentary long sleeved tee shirt. Just in time for cooler...

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

Hi, guys. Heather here. I'm from Austin, TX. Recently got a rower. Not a big exerciser, but hope to make it a daily habit. So I thought I would join up with you guys and do this Fall Challenge. Here's hoping I make you proud. Welcome Heather. I think you have made a good choice. Best of luck with t...

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

I was looking back a few years for Fall Team Challenge stats. I was 2nd best of the guys in 2011 and 1st in 2012. In 2013, I changed jobs and moved back home to the family farm. I couldn't figure out a good routine to work out, so I just stopped exercising. Smoking close to 2 packs a day, eating po...

Looking for a team for the Fall Challenge.
If you look on the Team page you will see many teams.
Lunatics, and Sub-7, are a couple of particularly active and welcoming ones.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

First ever 45 minute SS row. Probably the longest row I've done yet. 11,686m @ 1:55.7 Was aiming for 1:55 at 25 stroke rate. This was probably about 27. Absolutely hated this. Bored. Sweat in my eyes. Sweaty grip. Sore butt. Hard to stay on the right pace/stroke rate. Generally pretty miserable. 7 ...

I think i was a little conservative with the pace...just glad i got one done and now i have a baseline time to build on. Having to wipe sweat was an issue too, though i doubt i lost a huge amou...

The consequences became obvious yesterday... DVT at two sites on left leg, and blood thinners immediately...and no knee surgery until this is resolved.
Oy! I'm really sorry. I glad nothing worse happened from the DVTs. I wish you the best on you recovery, and future bionification.

Got under 7 minutes for 2k for the first time today with a 6:59.3. Really pleased. Went off steady and hammered the last 500m.

Splits:

1.47.2
1.46.7
1.45.3
1.40.1
Woo Hoo!
Awesome!
Congratulations on joining the sub-7 club.

Finally joined the "8000m (or more) in 30 minutes"-club today. Took me almost 18 months though :?
Woo Hoo!
It is impressive no matter how long, or short, it took.

Re: Is Apple watch worth it for rowing?

I have an Apple Watch 4 that I wear while I'm rowing on my Concept2 Model D, and I can't tell you whether it is "worth it" or not, but I can tell you some information that might help you decide that for yourself. Comparing the Logbook data to the Activity app data, the heartrate graphs match very, ...
