Solid session. You are close enough to sub 17:30 to give it a go now. Well done on this though especially as you came so close to not even trying.
Thanks. I am afraid 17:30 is not going to happen for me again. Time is working against me.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Finally a piece I am completely happy with: 5K 17:44.2 (1:46.4).
A cold front moved in (17C). Felt lousy during warmup to the point I was going to
cancel the attempt. Shows that this is often deceptive.

What would happen if you mixed a small amount of sugar into the yoghurt?
Woudn't you burn that off immediately?

I am very happy with recent PRs and breaking 6:40 in 2K and 3:05 in 1K and now I have the goal you stated - sub 17:30 5K.
Excellent stuff! A 5K is next for me too, as soon as the cold moves in. Will have to set myself a more modest goal.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

- an adequate warm up instead of a cold start (1K @ 2:11 is usually enough, with 3 or 4 big pulls spread out every 250m) There is more in it! You need to warm up much longer and harder, like a 2K @2k+5 (say 5K pace) after some other warmup routine beforehand. This seems hard but is not. I have done...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Thanks Dangerscouse and mdpfirrman. I got lucky with the temperature. Regrettably it will get
very hot one more time. Definitely the longest heat wave I have experienced.
I also figured out what was wrong with the verification code: I copied it down incorrectly.

Re: Edit one's own profile

I edited my profile and it does contain my location (Frankfurt, Germany) but this does not show
up in the rankings and I can find no field in user control to enter my club affiliation.
I would like my club affiliation to show up in the rankings (it is FRC84). How do I do that?

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

We have had a horrible heat wave here in Germany starting exactly on my 60th birthday and now lasting for four weeks already. Today I got my second chance at doing a row (its cool) and I took it in the morning: 30 mins 8222m. It about equals my old age PB from a couple of months back. However the ra...

Re: Skillrow vs Concept II

I was on one of these once. My feeling is that the splits are somewhat slower given the same effort (subjectively maybe 1-2 secs). The machine is not bad, not sloppy at the catch, very smooth action, monitor less well organized than concept2. The worst thing is the handle - it is _much_ too heavy. A...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

First row in the rankings aged 60: 6K 21:41.9. Not a PB (a bit faster some weeks back in colder air but a 60+ PB). The heat wave started exactly on my birthday giving me no chance to row anything. So I started monitoring the weather report only to find out that it is random (simulation probably runs...

Edit one's own profile

I am too dumb to figure out how to edit my profile. I joined a rowing club and want that to show up if I submit something to the rankings. All help greatly appreciated.

Congratulations Marius!
Looking forward to seeing your rowing-erg efforts (already excellent) and glad I'm not in your age group.

Re: HIIT - does it get easier to recover from in time?

I rarely do 100% efforts in training. The last 1% is abusive. Some time ago I did an all out 1K (because other rowers were watching). It left me empty and slightly unbalanced for about 3 days. 2 seconds slower and I recover very quickly. I push the 98% percent envelope, the 100% envelope then moves ...

What HIIT are you doing (and what pace in relation to 2K)?
