Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Just a short note to say that I sat through 32195m on Sunday, (2 hours 32 minutes of fun) 2:22.2 average. Stuck to the 2:20 pace for the first half, went downhill in the middle, but a strong last 8k, (although was suffering with shoulder and neck ache by then) :| . In the gym is more difficult...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

2k TT - splits 2:04.4 (29spm), 2:03.7 (29spm), 2:04.0 (30spm) and 2:02.4 (32spm). Happy with that and broke target of 8:15.0, although lost a bit of ground in 3rd quarter which is unlike me. Seasons best of 8:14.7 and 0.5 seconds better than Cardiff in November. Not expecting any great improvement a...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Amsterdam - a rather chilly day as -4c outside but lucky I didnt have to wait long for the bus and knew where I was going, (having done the legwork on Saturday). Arrived before anyone else connected with the race but managed to get inside the venue and wait for the weighin at 9:10. Was surprised to...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Just a quick update to say that I wasnt the only lightweight 50+ at Amsterdam, (somehow didnt spot Denia Amon, a fellow member of Sub7 in the list). A tough race but an unexpected win for me B) More details later as first day back at work, and I am seriously underprepared around the house at ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Just checking the race times for Sunday - 11:10 so I dont need to rush, (have only about 5 miles to travel from hotel although will aim to be there by 9:30 latest). Only me in category so will probably have to join the three 40+ LWTs if I want a medal.

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

LGF - good planning in regard to 60+ records that you can take. I may see you in Devon, (if doesnt clash with any half marathon running I have in the pipeline). Dean - you do more metres in a week than I do in a month most of the time, (even my 100k in 2017 so far). Wishing you well if you go for a...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

I am very pleased that Saturday I not only made LWT but a very steady HM with negative split and not particularly dying afterwards, for a three year best and top of current rankings for the 50-59 LWT ladies B) . Average 2;15.8 DF 116 and spm 26. Hopefully looking good for when I extend that to 30k a...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Dean - excellent HR training on these Eddie Fletcher sessions. Brr - glad I am not in Bravaria at the moment, (didnt enjoy being outside in -8c in Copenhagen about 3 years back) :? . Although you may not get as much training in as normal for you this week due to work commitments, 2 days off isnt li...

EddyFletcherMarathonPlan Week1Day6 60’ (2 x 30’ 3’ rest) Default MP or slower HR 75% max misread HR limits - HRmax 70% (136) - should have gone a a little faster data courtesy of the rowpro online logbook (nifty new feature) rest was 3mins (grrr... this 'feature' of ommitting rest time, i' not so k...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Susan, Best of luck with Saturdays 18k (is that on the ergo?) and Sundays 5 mile cross-country run. Yep - 18k on ergo on Saturday at 2:17 pace, (1 hour 22 minutes and 12 seconds of fun of course :o ). It just made the target, (150m to go and a bit of a sweat on), but I deliberately allowed myself a...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Dean - thanks for mentioning the Fletcher Max HR test, (I remember doing this when I used to have a cardboard Concept2 logbook - so that is some years ago). For me it is 50W, (I will have fun keeping to 3:11 pace), 75W, 100W, 125W and fly it like a 4 min TT. Put it on my list of things to d...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Alex - the only time that I intentionally rest 3-4 days is pre-competition, (and probably post-competition if it was marathon on the ergo or half-marathon run). Post competition is partly to do with the physical tiredness/soreness but also I have heard that it helps keeps the dreaded coughs and col...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Marjorie - I remember when I could keep up with you at 8 minutes for 2k but that was a long time ago. I peaked at 2k in 2007 with 7:55.6, (doesnt feel like 10 years ago) - 42 years old. The older I get the distance work is more appealing. :D . I would be very happy with an 8:10 nowadays, particular...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Dean - you are a tower of strength. I noticed that I am getting better results on SPI on the 5k than 2k but probably because I am tempted to sprint on the last 300m on a 2k and temporarily go at 35spm. Mark - with improvements like that on 3 x 1500m r5 I expect that you are happy to put up with the...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Marjorie - thanks for reminding me about the nonathalon, (I had forgotten to get started on that or rather hoping that I could get LWT times across the board - in reality this isnt going to happen). Wishing you well on the half-marathon, and if you beat me by several minutes I wont be too surprised...
