Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Thanks to everyone who is sendng their support and best wishes. It is well possible the right hip will need replacing at some time although at present the damage in it is "minor". There isnt any scheduled date for this but I would be surprised if I get past 60, having talked to others who have had s...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

I was hoping I might catch up with the posts here but it isnt likely to happen. I can see Rod and Mike have been having this forum mainly to themselves, and well done on all those achievements I havent got time to list. Me - I am joining the "Old farts mutual appreciation society", or at least it lo...

Re: Skillrow vs Concept II

Lucky the personal trainers at our gym put their oar in when it was kitted out with Technogym equipment last week - still 6 Concept2s although very tightly packed now. For me I want to race Concept2, (er - when I have had a hip replacement as currently my style and power is rather poor), so want to ...

Re: Would you do a competition just for the heck of it?

I might, particularly if there was a tourist attraction I wanted to see or some other reason for being in the area that day. Indoor owing I like to think that I am pretty good, but running is just getting round a halfmarathon although has taken me around Europe and some great weekends both sightseei...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

My absence on this page has been a bit like my rowing - fairly non existent in quantity and quality. Having gone through the euphoria of the Hamburg ergomarathon I have only just got over a nasty 2 week coughing lurgy, suffering from some weird muscle/nerve problem in my legs which is being worked o...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Where next - maybe the Italian Open 2k if they can get their online entry form to work, (seems rather last minute posting it only 5 weeks before the race). PS Dont know whether they will understand my explanation as my Italian is pretty non-existant, (can blag a bit of German when I have to but that...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

I did get to Hamburg and back - but hardly the best rested. Set out Thursday 2:30pm and returned back from Birmingham Airport having gone nowhere by midnight, (but with a ticket to Dusseldorf for Friday lunchtime). :( No guarantee on taxis due to the weather Friday so had to get to the airport the h...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

I should have been in Hamburg yesterday but the snow cocked up that plan. Fingers crossed for another attempt to get off the ground today. With race being at 7:30am Sat this isnt good news even if I end up taking the train from Dusseldorf. Plan B will be to ergo the marathon at the local gym on Sund...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Settled for 8:23.7 for a 2k last night for the Indoor Rowers league. Just a case of getting it done as still coughing occasionally.

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Rod - I will take a hint and email you with this result for the newsletter. Congratulations to all you medal winners who bust a gut in the USA last weekend. Well done indeed. Hopefully I will be able to spend more time online doing my own stuff again now. So should be making more frequent appearanc...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Starnberg 30 mins: Leading up to the race in training I had hit 6953m which is 2:09.4 pace and only 1m less than in 2014 race. Looked like preperation was going well, (although really geared towards Hamburg ergomarathon 3 March). :) Didnt have any problems with the journey, (contrary to opinion tha...

Re: Starnberg, German long distance championships

H20 - I was at Starnberg for the first time in 4 years and noticed several people HD. Also some people looked like they were about to pass out. For me the air was warmer than I would have liked but the door by the stage was open by my race at 14:40. Like you I would have been wary about starting a ...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Rod, Carol, Marjorie - best wishes for the World Rowing Indoor Champs. Hope you have a great trip. Me - off and about a little more local, (Starnberg - Germany for the 30 mins race). PS. Rod - dont think my 8:15.3 silver in Ireland got a mention in the newsletter. However very good of you to...

Re: Starnberg, German long distance championships

H20 and Dean - I am going to Starnberg. Just got to make lightweight to be in with a shout of winning. Weather looking poor, so sightseeing might be limited.
