warm up: 12 minutes ... cool down: 8 minutes :?: What happened to the n thousand +1 metre warmup/cooldowns? They used to give me a sense of constancy - a feeling that all was right in the universe. A bit like the dawn chorus, or the sun rising. Yeh, you're right, I should get a life! Cheers Dave.

Hi kchunks

There is a good technique video on the UK site. The rower is a former GB rower, so he knows what he is doing. The other material on the technique section of the site is also extremely helpful.

Cheers
Dave.

This is a bit convoluted, but here goes. You can append ?postorder=des onto the end of a thread or forum url to see the last posts first. So http://www.c2forum.com/viewforum.php?f=3 takes you to the training forum, and http://www.c2forum.com/viewforum.php?f=3?postorder=des shows the same thing, but ...

Re: How much rowing is enough?

I worked up my routine from 2000 meters daily to 10K daily, it takes me 43 minutes to do 10,000 meters, and I plan to improve on that. So far I lost over 30lbs - my "start" weight was over 250lbs (250 is when I started logging my progress), and by now I was able to get it below 220lbs. Is doing 10k...

176,178,180,176,178,180 = 17.8av spm - 13722m target - 13794m actual = +0.52% (ref pace 1:48) Wow, I enjoyed that session, although I found it mentally challenging. I had done 60' @2:02.9 (22spm) yesterday, but found today's session more challenging. I think that it is the discipline needed to hit r...

Re: PM's

Whichever you decide on, the PM card and saving/uploading is GREAT! No more scribbling notes trying to keep track of training numbers. Absolutely. Also, combined with the logcard utility, you can upload your metres to the online logbook with the click of a button. Cheers Dave. [Happy with my PM3, b...

For anything shorter than HM, water breaks are not necessary unless it is really really hot. For FM, I think most people have cups lined up nearby for water breaks. Camelbak shoulder straps would rub you raw on an FM, so can't say I would recommend wearing one. I agree: I drink a litre of water (or...

Today I visited the doctor. My blood pressure was 110/70 and my resting pulse is 60.

Today is my birthday.
What a great present to yourself.
A daily row is far better than a daily tablet.
Keep it up.

Re: Card reader...is it necessary?

I'm about to put in my order for a Concept 2. I have a question about the card reader...is this a worthwhile expense? Definitely. It makes logging your sessions simple and convenient. All I have to carry around is my logcard; the reader is permanently connected to the PC. Omnikey sell a PCMCIA card...

I've not done a proper 2k yet Dave. My best 60min row was @ 1:58,7 pace. Oh, I think that you are ahead of me - my 60' PB pace was 1:59.7, and I only managed that once about 18 months ago. What's your goals Dave ? As a 51 yr old reformed fat, hypertensive boozer with a young family my goals ...

Would anyone give me a quick crash course to WP. ie. L1 = L2 = L3 = L4 = I've read the thread in the past but am trying to avoid doing that again That might be a bit unrealistic; I think that if you really want to do WP training you have to have a fairly comprehensive understanding of the plan - bo...

But maybe this is typical for Americans overall. He is Swiss. First you overlook his amazing achievements, then you ascribe the wrong nationality. Hey, 'phone me when you get something right. I'm not a Xeno groupie but I don't like unwarranted diatribes, especially from someone as ill-informed as y...

Re: 2008 review: Xeno Müller disappoints.....

Concept2 has been his training machine which helped him to fame No, I think Atlanta 1996 might have had a bit more to do with it! I too feel sad at the direction that an awesome rower has taken, but I suspect that it merely reflects how little money is too be made from coaching rowing of any sort, ...
