Re: Sprint races 2018

Is someone here questioning the fitness methods of an ex-international sporstman and multiple world record holder?   was the question serious? - (unsure of the positioning of the laughing smilies) If so, it wasn't mine (or henri's) intention. If you could point out where you think t...

Re: Sprint races 2018

Can,t resist :-) For your paces you never have to change hahaha, have you ever seen a drop of sweat :-) pfff.. i was actually thinking of doing some sprints this year - the big 50 :) I guess though thats my approach - and my perception of what is "fitness" Being able to hammer out a whopper of a 50...

Re: Sprint races 2018

hmm... only 500m? not sure about that - more likely to find a crossfit competition that will better suit you. you will find that most rowing events start the sprints at 2k for adults. Calling 6 min event is pretty stupid though  Apart side events I have not seen 500 races lately. This should ...

Re: January Challenge(s)

not really - i may have been a little over zealous with mine.
30 hrs is a long time - especially as I dont train exclusively on the rower.
at the moment i'm about 2 hrs behind schedule...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Other than some discomfort in my bum towards the end no, it's not that bad. That said I set out at a pace where I knew I would be able to finish comfortably so I'm sure HM TTs are as miserable as any other TT. I probably didn't lose that much time due to the music malfunction as the pause gave my h...

Re: Stroke rate and pace

the drive is the same on all stroke rates (in theory)

so the power put into one stroke is the same. lets say 10W

if you pull 18spm = 180W
30 SPM = 300 W...

more power = faster pace...

not being able to rate up linear (using the same power at higher rates) is a deficiency in the aerobic base.

Re: A Question on Stroke Rate, Heart Rate and Steady State

It was a bit slower for the really long sessions; it was 2:06 for 85k but a few stops made it look slower. Anything up to 65k was at 2:00 / 2:02, above that I slowed it down a bit. Even on my 12hr it was 2:16 pace but I know with hindsight I could have pushed it to 2:13 / 2:12 but I was terrified o...
