8 x 500 at about 1:48 avg. 3:30 rest between. Pete plan.

How do you other smaller guys get such low pulls?

I'm 5'6" 155lbs the best I've ever pulled is a 1:39 for like 1 pull.

Week 2, day 3 of the "Pete" plan. I mistakenly referred to this as the "Peterman" plan. Which of course is actually the "J Peterman" plan and that plan involves trips to Tunisia, Thialand, Turkey, heroin and a lot of creative writing :D

Been rowing (again) regularly now for about 8 weeks and also got bored with the standard distance thing.

I started the 3 week Peterman plan yesterday. Looks like it will help keep things from being so boring.

I also listen to music when I row.

Another PB

Just did a 147.5 500m split at the end of my 5k this morning. Knocked 2 seconds off my previous PB from last week.

I don't remember the exact details but drag was about 113-115 and SPM was 31 or 32.

First, I've been back on the erg for a little over a month after a really, really long layoff. I'm erging now because of a knee injury that prevents me from running and will likely keep me from running for about 4-6 months. Anyway, last week I did my first near all out 30 min piece and did 759...

Thanks everyone for their inputs. I wish I could row in the privacy of my apartment, but I'm afraid that's not possible in New York. That rules out the speakers (although bringing huge speakers to the gym would be quite a scene!). I am very much sold on the Sennheiser headphones, especially the MX ...

Just about any decent "sport" armband will work. I too sweat a lot and run in the rain as well. Besides the upper arm doesn't get dripped on so the back of the armband will keep most of the sweat off. The earbuds you want are Sennheiser MX75/85 or PMX70/80. The MX "twist to fit" in the ear and the P...

You're not getting it. If I could do a 3:30 marathon on 30mpw AND 3:30 was my ulitmate goal, then yes. But if I could do a 3:30 marathon on 30mpw my goal would NOT be 3:30 if I was able (time/physically)to run 80mpw my goal would change and I would be wanting to run sub 3. If my goal were just to fi...

Re: marathon and c2

Relax, Gene, any fool can run 150 miles a week if they have the genetics those elite runners have; hell, the challenge would be to see how few miles per week they could run to get the times they do. but then, by definition as elite runners, there ain't many of em. Sadly though, the fools I ran with...

Re: marathon and c2

so let me get this straight, while doing the marathon, you're gonna hop off the course, hop on a C2 and row a bit? I've completed over 20 marathons and have had a go at 8 ultras w/ a PB at the 50 mile distance, flat course in 7 hours 40 min plus, 28 years ago and 3 attempts at the Old Dominion 100 ...

I'd be keen to know what training on the erg does for your running enjoyment. Ray So far I've haven't been rowing too much. I don't want to add too much too soon. But so far I've done mostly short intervals to add some aerobic training. I'll run 3-6 miles fairly easy for warmup then do 8-12 400 rep...

I'm not a full time rower, but, IMO if your forearms are rubbing or hitting your knees, your timing is off. You knees should have "dropped" out of the way or not yet be "in the way" during that phase of the stroke. Watch the tutorial video. My wife has the same problem and for some reason just canno...

Been running almost exclusively for the last several years and am now just adding my rower back into the mix for additional "mileage" without the lower leg stress. That said when I was rowing alot I could row a 5k in around 19:30 maybe a little less. I've never been able to break 20 minutes running ...

Thanks. Very helpful. I do need to do more quad work, so I guess some GA work would be a good addition to my training and get me some quad work to balance out my legs better. I'm looking forward to adding this to my training. My next marathon starts out with 11 miles of hills and valleys, so this ou...
