Re: Ski Erg for Max Cardio-How To Maximize?

Thanks for all the advice. Didn't do much for about five days with the Ski Erg, but yesterday did two 2000m pulls in about ten minutes and didn't get much cardio benefit. Did try to upping the rpm to 50+ based on that video above, with very short strokes, last week. The nordic guy had it at 60+. Ma...

Re: First week of use - First concerns

This is one of my logs: Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M 30:00.0 5,473m 2:44.4 79 570 37 this means I shouldn't go for time or lenght but for Watts (146W if I'm 73kg)? Yes. Watts is a measure of Work delivered to the handle. Your above figures show 79 Watt, 37 spm. This means that your stroke work...

Re: Managing logbook with SkiErg and Rower intervals?

My SkiErg should be arriving at the weekend to go with my C2 rower. A question for those who have, or use, 2 or more C2 items: how do you manage your logbook entries? I can see that single sessions on both are straightforward. but what about the paired sessions and intervals that I keep reading abo...

3x 2K erg, 2Kskierg last night

Last 2K skierg rep was a new PB- 8:38.6. 2:09.6 pace 42spm. I can possibly see breaking 8:30 in the next month or so if done without all the other work.

Re: Anatomy of a rower video from the Olympic channel

I was hoping they did one for XC skiers. They wouldn't match the strength but I would like to see how their lung capacity and VO2 max would compare.

I think he mentioned a back issue is why he "only" rows 20K.

Re: Newbie to rowing

Hi all Back from holiday today. As per advice I tried to slow the pace down and tried a 30min session. I really really struggled to keep the Stroke rate down it just felt wrong/awkward to me. I had the drag lowered to 7 this time which seemed to make it really light in feel too. I basically spent t...

Re: Am I training too hard? Seriously

IMO, unless you're training for something very specific or are at a world class level, ditch the HR monitor and go by feel. Your body will let you know if you've over done it. I don't think you're doing enough volume or intensity to be training too hard.

Re: :30/:30 intervals beneficial?

Just did this workout on Tuesday. 10 reps on the Skierg. I did a 6K on the erg prior, took a short rest and had at it. It was brutal. Rep 10 was it, no way I could've gone longer without a significant slowdown.

HIIT has its place, but it's not something you could or should do all the time.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Managed to average above 125m on my 10x 30 secs on 30 secs off for the first time on my Skierg (barely). Average of 126.6m with all reps but the last at 125m or better. Last rep- 124m

A good pair of running shorts should also work- and like bike shorts- sans the undies.

Re: Rowing --> Running

Based on my experience rowing does translate to overall CV/Aerobic fitness that will help with running. When I would occasionally run when also doing most of my workouts on the rower, I could maintain a decent pace. The only thing that slowed me down was that my legs would get tired/sore. Sure rowin...
