Re: Setting drag factor

The BikeErg doesn't have a significant rundown period and must be manually calibrated. Once calibrated there are three inputs that the PM uses to calculate the current drag factor- damper position via an angle sensor, temperature and barometric pressure. As these inputs change the PM revises the dr...

John, don’t you mean tenths of a stroke?
Right. Correction: the pm doesn't show tenths of RPM splits.

Even averaging RPM splits to a single whole number average is not all that accurate, as I pointed out up above.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

Only real way of making a rate capped challenge as close to fair as possible Is to adjust the results based on pace per weight, and height and/or arm length too in this case. stipulate default splits (4:00) in this case, and a numerical average of 20.00 spm (regardless of PM average display) That's...

Re: Model B aluminum fly wheel

Other than cleaning, removing or adding anything to the flywheel surface would probably change the resistance.

Re: Why I am not losing weight?

I've been eating 90+ percent calories from carbs for most of my life, and am much healthier than I used to be for this reason. Today I went to the store and got more yams, potatoes, bananas, broccoli and dates. I don't eat bread anymore, but sometimes have whole oats for breakfast with dates. I drin...

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread

If a maximum of 400 strokes is de rigueur for proper execution, it follows that those without an accurate stroke counter app such as ErgData or an electromechanical counter on the seat rail are obliged to keep the tab by either counting strokes or by attaching a cheap pushbutton totalizator to thei...

Re: Tall user

I replaced the pull cords when they started to become frayed at the handle top. I've been wondering about that, as mine have been getting frayed there too. Found some nylon "parachute cord" at the local hardware store considerably cheaper than Concept2 replacement part. Slightly smaller diameter th...

Re: optimal stroke rate and settings on SkiErg

I did 20x max pulls Oct19 with drag factors from 65 to 155. They all reached about the same top speed, but the higher settings were more tiring. The fastest speed was at the 65 drag. I don't recall the stroke rates but they were all about the same. During 2k to 10k workouts, my stroke rate is usuall...

Re: Prolonged Heart Rate Spike During Cooldown

Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this or can offer an explanation. Yes, in my case I ran 19 miles on roads over rather steep (15 to 20%) hills, and ran in at a rather comfortable good pace to the finish. I took a few steps at the finish to cool down, and my heart rate started racin...

Best heart rate strap for pm5 ?

I had a Garmin hrm1g heart rate strap that picked up a signal easily, but was erratic and not accurate. I'm looking for a different kind now, to use with the pm5 only, not with a cell phone. I've read that the Wahoo Kickr Ant+, and the Polar H7 Bluetooth Smart are both good but don't know how easily...
