Re: body gives up but brain wants to keep going

I only put the rowing time in the log book, and the pace, not the time in between. It wasn't a ranking piece due to not being contiguous, but you can enter it manually as 60 minutes. Then add the total meters, and the pace is calculated. For example: 3600 seconds (60 minutes) x 500 / 13017 = 2:18.2 ...

Re: body gives up but brain wants to keep going

i do not currently have a heart rate monitor as i am not sure where to start when it comes to something like that . i have heard the Wahoo TICKR works with the PM5 and is not to expensive. The Garmin HRM1G works great with my pm5 and is $15 on Ebay. But i am now not sure what is happening over the ...

Re: Heart rate training

This thread got me interested to check my heart rate this week. I paired the monitor for a skierg 2k pb a few days ago, with the readout covered, but apparently the connection was lost, boohoo. I'll check it again the next time that I do a 2k and make sure it's connected. This morning I covered the ...

bare feet

I always rowed barefoot, and much preferred it to having to wear shoes.

Re: New SkiErg Owner

Hi Kini, Thanks for your comments. I prefer being barefoot and don't slip on the painted plywood. The garage floor can be slippery though. That's interesting you come down between the support bars. I did that some on my 2k. How wide apart are your feet? The U bar might be okay as long as I'm super c...

Re: Stroke Power, Stroke Length and Stroke Rate

There is no such thing as "watts per stroke", because watts are a measure of power per second. Inserting a pause for more time between strokes does not increase the power, but rather the power decreases. The best way to test the watts (power) per second, is to watch the pace on the monitor, and do w...

Re: A Skierg lightweight division makes sense

Correction for clarity:
Very heavy people can get fast times on the Skierg simply because they weigh more,
and light people are penalized, even though they might have much higher watts per weight performances.

A Skierg lightweight division makes sense

I've never heard of cross-country skiers having different weight categories, have you? In the Olympics you race against every other skier, regardless of weight. Why on earth would they create a new category when that is not a part of the existing sport? In Nordic Skiing, every person carries their ...

by the way I have used lead tape (sold for golf clubs weights), the same lead tape strips work perfect for balancing bicycle wheels 😊
Awesome. :D

Re: Recommended cushions for C2 Model D seat?

It is a bizarre part of the "C2 family" culture that criticism of any aspect of the C2 rower is not tolerated. To do so is to risk personal verbal attacks and group ostracization. If you think that's bad, try posting about "watts per weight," or try having a civil discussion about lightweights. :D

Re: New SkiErg Owner

Thanks much for your post, which has been quite helpful to me. I've been using the floor stand since getting a Skierg a few weeks ago. However it is having some issues as follows: 1) The surface is very rough on my feet, and was making them look like a war zone. I remedied that by placing a painted ...
