Here's a sub-7 2k at 17 strokes/minute I did back in 2009.

Thats nice going for r17.

Though being a 6' 6" HW helps

Re: Video: Critique Requested

You don't need to increase DF. Just push harder with your legs. That will give more watts/spm. Maybe I should explain my thinking better. Simply pushing harder with my legs will cause me to faster (which is good), but I may not be able to maintain the pace. Dropping the spm will counter act this. I...

Slow the recovery down, stop rushing the slide.
Well spotted tbh.

There's nothing to be gained or registered on the erg by rushing back to the catch.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

A late afternoon row for me. Still warm and humid conditions, but having the fan on helped. Another re-row with the paceboat from a r22 - 2:02.8 piece, so it felt nice to finish ahead of that boat :D

Re: Low rate fast pace....how?!

I'm more in the camp of Why? than how. I don't see a need to row as low as r16, if that was done over a significant period of time. Yeah, good point. I don't really go below 19, sometimes it's 18 and I have done one r16 session before just because I was feeling tired and unmotivated. Hell i used to...

A concept 2 machine won't give false drag factor readings.

What you see is what you get!

Re: Video: Critique Requested

Not bad but your posture is slumped (curved back) which inevitably leads to a weak catch position to start the drive.

Try learning to sit more upright with strong posture.

Re: Dirt on rollers

The seat will roll on its own to the forward position. Errh... Won't it always do that? Should do! I found a way for my rollers to stop building up that black junk!!! i no longer need to clean them each time :D Now i just give the monorail a quick wipe after every few sessions. It seems when the ro...

and the "Just Row" option doesn't record meters on the Odometer.
And neither does the "display drag factor" option.

I sometimes use that option not only to check df before i set off, but also as a way to warm up or work a bit on technique without cluttering/messing up my monitors memory bank.

Re: Newbie- tension lag

Yeah agree with above. Can hear rower working as it should but the stroke is weak and erratic so not engaging with the flywheel properly

I would spend sometime working on technique learning to really drive with the legs first and getting some power into your stroke.

Errr hang on let me go get my crystal ball  Posting a side on view video of you rowing will give a better idea for us to understand whats going wrong. There seems be a plethora of newbies lately complaining about their ergs... when it's most likely technique related than machine related. No...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

@ Paul. What i generally do is have a de-load week after every 4-6 weeks of going heavy... to avoid the dreaded plateauing. The wide grip pullups are a great one... i actually will feel it much more in my bicep pump than in my forearms on those  Shrugs should be doable as well!!! Nice 5k btw ...
