Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

Hi guys thanks for showing an interest. I normally write the day up, to refer back to next year as a ‘blog’ entry. I’ve copied below and tells my day for anyone interested. With a 9:15 race the day started at 06:00. Didn’t get much sleep (normal on a race night  ) as I tossed and turned most of...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

Race start pratice for me to-day 16x250 R90s. Gave myself a target of 455w for each and also wanted to be up to 455w in 4-5 strokes from a standing start. Nailed all the starts although I was late on one, a couple I was up to speed in 3-4 strokes which was pleasing. Best 1st pull was 316w but most w...

Yeah I can see now, they've got you down as a lightweight  which AFAIK you could be but with some of the times you've been posting I very much doubt

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

Scary stuff Nav , I'm always hoping it doesn't come my way as it's seems hereditary in my family, Dad, Grand Mother, Great Aunts, Cousin's etc. Generally when I'm getting any tests done at the quacks I mention it and get tested for diabetes as well, so far so good. Yesterday's fayre was a 3(6x30" ON...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

Getting to that time of year when BRIC looms and every little sniffle or cough makes one think "I'm going down with something" Not sure that I am as I get this just about every year but feels like I've picked something up from my wife/daughter who have both had recent ailments. Anyway, todays...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

Nice 1k Jon and now hopefully you know all the words to Black Magic Women as well  Well, just did my 6x500R1 at race rate and surprised myself  Never been one for predictive rows but if I was, this one predicts 6:21.6 +/- 1 sec  Thought I was around 6:25 for 2k atm so gave myself ...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

I've got that tomorrow Nav, 6 x 500 R1 at race rate (32-33). Never really been one for predictive rows but I'll give myself a target pace somewhere where I think I'll be around BRIC (6:25ish) and see how it goes. 30R20 for me today, didn't bother with a warm up just straight to it. Don't really like...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Richard – a 2k warmup in Sub7 minutes and then straight into 4 x 750m, (definitely operating in a different league to the rest of us). Does that indicate 6:20 on a 2k? Cheers TPK. Unfortunately those days of me dreaming of 6:20 have long gone now. Probably good for sub 6:27 at BRIC17 and anything b...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

2k Time Trial Richard .......Great CTC....and congrats on your son making his Quins debut! You'll be quicker with a bit more sprint training Rod so don't fret too much. Going Sub 7 never to be sniffed at  Point of order, cheers for the congrats but he made his debut a couple of seasons ago bu...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

Lol, Cheers guy's. I thought for the 2 'newbies' to my 2k warm ups I'd dig up the history from my old blog. Completely forgot it had come about from my visit to Nav Towers back in July 2012  That last one was number 196th 2k warm up. Anyway for any one interested here's my blog write up on the ...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

To-day's fare of 2x(8 x 45" rest 1:30 act recovery) is more up NavHaz's street than mine. I don't like them and usually dip out somewhere along the way but following on from the 100k Team WR last month I can now see the benefit in these sessions and just gutted it out to get it done. Gave myself a t...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Definitely one of the tougher sessions Rod, well done for sticking with it mate. Sub 7 ITC and CTC pour moi to-day. Did 2k as a warm up for the 4x750R3. Knew what I was going to do for the 2k but pacing the 750s was a bit different as 3 min rest isn't something I do with these, normally it's either ...

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

Well last go at a endurance interval session before BRIC, 3 x 1800 R4. Plan was to do a full warm up and then do the 1st interval to a race plan and the next two at sub 7 pace. Went for the same pace plan as before which was 413w for the 1st 500 then 362w for the next 1k then try and take it to 400w...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Welcome to sub 7 mdpfirrman, hope you get what you came for :D 6344m for the IRL today. Did think about worring my pb but knew early doors the legs did'nt have it after yesterday's 3 x 1600 R4. Pleased to have ground it out faster than sub 7 pace though. HR seemed a bit high as it was yesterday, hop...
