Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

Hello All! I see lots of new names. I'm an old time Lunatic who is an on the water rower, so don't erg so much April to Nov. I have also suffered some injuries over the past few years keeping me off the water, off the erg and off the forum. I tore my calf muscle in September and am still recuperati...

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

Thank you, second one ever . This one was 30 seconds slower than the last one in 2017(getting older and slower). My wife broke my old marathon coffee mug and I needed a new one , the concept store only stays open in that year. So I got my my mug& probably burned off half my dinner !!! She should ha...

Re: Rowing after a meal

How do you handle it when circumstances beyond your control force you to postpone a meal such that the time when you can eat is much closer to the start of your planned workout, and you unfortunately don't have the flexibility to delay the workout? Do you 1) Not eat at all and row, 2) Eat just a sm...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Did my first marathon row in 2:59:36. No real training for it, other than trying to incorporate much longer row sessions - 18k in the mornings, another 6-8k in the afternoons. Occasionally doing 1/2 marathons. The worst part is the numbness in the upper hamstrings and buttocks - with bubblewrap and...

Re: [In]decent Intervals

Fcuk. I seem to have had another motherfcuking seizure. It would be hard to overstate how fcuking depressing it is. The good news is that I don't seem to have bitten through my tongue this time.... It had been quite a few months since the last one and I thought I was doing well with managing the di...

Re: All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 11.08.19

David A 7,535 m  Why the shock? David It was an unusual number for you....four digits instead of five - still respectable and worthy. :D That's what happens every year once we switch the clocks. Sunset on Friday is too early for me to row much before the Sabbath starts. (Most of the time I'm...

Re: Half marathon training

I have been having some trouble with what I thought was my PM3 but was in fact the cord that goes to the monitor. It stopped me dead in my tracks during the Fall Team challenge. I was able to replace it myself and am back to rowing. Now that it's cold outside and the beach is no longer an option I ...

It is really surprising how much time it adds on when you stop for a short period of time, that's why I don't stop unless I absolutely have to.
Same with me. It comes as quite a shock the first time you stop, and you see how quickly the split time drops.

Re: Broke my knee in 2018 - 1 MILLION METERS TODAY!

In February 2018, I broke my left tibia plateau skiing (basically my knee). Two operations, 3 months of not walking, 2 months of physio and one conversation with my surgeon telling me not to run for exercise ever again later, I decided to start rowing again for the first time in probably 15+ years ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Last day on TTs 30 mins. 8532 m @ pace of 1:45.5 6 min splits (pace) 1:45.4 1:45.0 1:45.2 1:46.4 1:45.2 Was aiming for 8600, but as you can tell, was too hard through the middle and I had to slow way down. Was able to recover enough for a 300m sprint at the end. Can't complain. :) That's still a he...

Hey everyone. I hope it's okay that I joined your team. I'm not going to be able to contribute much for awhile. About 100 pounds overweight currently, had a concept2 sitting in my garage from maybe 2012? Figured it was time to get out and use it. I've already lost 40 lbs out of the 149ish I am need...

Re: Rowing with DVT

Apologies if this subject has appeared before but I have been diagnosed with a DVT and am concerned about future rowing. I am working for the moment in Bahrain and the doctors here don't seem to understand what rowing is all about! I have no idea what caused this problem, I do have (well controlled...
