Re: Forum Login

I noticed a while back that this Forum had been upgraded (?). Some changes, nothing too drastic, are noticeable. However, one thing I'm now experiencing is a change to my log in. I enter my username and password, and it comes back "you've exceeded your maximum number of login attempts", and asks me...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

With 20k meters left to go to reach my first 1M meter season, I decided to cross the line by rowing my first HM. In the last 10 years, my previous long row was about 14K so I took a very easy pace. Still, those last 40 minutes were really unpleasant, but killed two birds with one stone. Woo Hoo!! C...

Re: What kind of fatty foods do you tend to eat?

my furnace-like metabolism. We can all vary in the rates at which we gain or lose weight but all the reading I've done on the subject seems to indicate that it's not down to 'metabolism' it's more about genetics and we are all similar (or certainly not hugely different anyway) in that we burn aroun...

Re: Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club (UK)

Well I’m never one to break a sequence so here’s another British Record Mike. :D 60 minutes Mens Hwt 60-69 age group, I wanted to do something ‘hard and long’ today so took a peak at the 60 min BR and saw Nick Rockliff has set it at 16025m which is around 248w and figured that should be doable, so ...

Re: Warming up...

I have always been too lazy to warm up separately. I just am slower at the beginning. As I am just rowing for general fitness and health, and not to break any records, that works okay for me. I do try to push myself some - I'm not just 'paddling' along, but I'm not that fast.

Re: Forum Flyers

Went through the 10 million metre mark last night - 782+ hours of rowing to get there over 15+ years (with a couple of lengthy breaks in between). I think that Model D purchase back in October 2004 was a good decision. :D I'm assuming I'll look back on last month's BikeErg purchase with a similar f...

Re: It took 7 years, but I finally did it

I'd just turned 30 and I figured my metabolism was going to be slowing down pretty soon. I despised running and didn't want to try a gym, so I purchased my model D with a PM3 in October of 2011 so I could lazily burn a few calories to justify some occasional ice cream. After trying "just rowing" fo...

Re: One good thing about turning 60

Today, my 60th BD, I rowed a pedestrian 7049 meters in 30 minutes. This ranked in the 62nd percentile. If I had ranked it one day earlier, it would've been in the 42nd percentile. So at least there's that. Even with no extra training you improved 20 percentage points in one day! Congratulations! :l...

Haven’t found a new hobby yet, so had to do a wr while looking  14 days since my previous 500m wr, now improved by 0.5s. Felt extremely good the first 400m before starting to fade.
