Gym at California and NY with concept2

Post by btlnorway » April 8th, 2015, 5:40 pm

Hi!!

I'm going on vacation to USA this summer. First NY (will live one day at a hotell near by New Ark- airport) and then go to California. Will stay at San Fransisco, LA and Las Vegas.
Can you recommendend some gyms in this area that is equipped with concept2 (Indoor rower, skiErg would also be very fine) :-)

And how much for a SkiErg2 in the USA? (I can't see the price because I'm outside USA)

Hi,
The best way to find rowing machines is to put your hotel's address into google maps, and then search nearby for "cross fit". These are popular, small gyms that always have multiple, well maintained concept2 ergs.

I contact them by email ahead of time and ask if they welcome out of town guests. I've never had them say no, and they have been super nice when I visit. They will usually charge between 10 and 20 bucks for the privilege, so ask what they would charge before hand to avoid unhappy surprises.

I've done this in San fransico, Orange County and San diego in California. Never tried in ny or Las Vegas.

The Concept 2 web site has a search engine to find the location of ergs in the cities you plan to visit.
I live in Las Vegas and there are many gyms with C2 ergs, but again, I would recommend using the search to find one close by to where you are staying. If you're going to be on the strip, I would think there is a good chance the nicer hotels would have one. If not there certainly is an Anytime Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness (where I go) nearby that would have one.

Have fun. My son is finishing up a "study abroad" semester at University of Oslo currently.

Seek out a YMCA with a gym. They did me a two week membership deal at the Y in South San Jose (middle of Silicon Valley).

skierg's about the same price as the rower.

a skierg w/ the floor stand (which you most likely need if you're a personal user) or the model d rower w/ floor mat will both run you about 1K shipped.
