They're talking about how to program the workout from the "Main Menu" using those five grey buttons which they've labelled A through to E from the top right to the bottom right. The below image shows them. The fast forward up is button A, the slow up is button B (complete with the snot patch), slow down is button C, fast forward down is button E.
