Re: Wanted Concept 2
Craig's List is your best bet and you need to check it at least a couple of times a day. When a C2 Model D rower come on CL below $700, they tend to go very quickly. Like the same day its listed or if priced too low, within hours. Run the search terms "rower, rowing, rowing machine" all as separate searches so that you capture everything out there as sometimes in estate sales, they don't know a water rower from a Model D from two oar handles tied to bungee cords on a wall beyond what it does.
Cheap ergs show up only when the seller doesn't really know the fair market value of what they have in my experience.
Here's some reasonable buys that I found:
Model D with PM4: $750
https://oregoncoast.craigslist.org/spo/ ... 64263.html
Model D w/PM5 - $700
https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/spo/ ... 01763.html
Model D w/PM3 - $500 Here ya go. Older model but totally rebuildable to new condition. this is very cheap!
https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/for ... 47859.html
By chance, is this your ad? https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/wan ... 86558.html If you find a new model D with PM for $500, it's not likely going to be from someone who reading the ads and seeing them bring $750-$900 used. Just sayin'..
In all cases, if the rower you want is available, CL is negotiation when/where you can. Offer a bit less but be willing to come up if you need to. Lastly, check the local gyms and rowing clubs to catch Ergs that they might be out-placing as they bring in new equipment.

eBay is not a bad place to source one. That is where i acquired mine!
Just avoid the "Dreamers" and you should be fine, there are still enough realists on there ready to deal.

What price should I be looking at for a C or D as some people are asking for ridiculous amounts

Depends on the age and how much maintenance you'll need to do.bornnslippy wrote: ↑February 25th, 2020, 10:42 amWhat price should I be looking at for a C or D as some people are asking for ridiculous amounts
A model D with PM5 is £860 from C2UK (or £800 if you can get an ex-Irish race machine).
A model C may have a PM2 or worse a PM1 (which both need replacing with a PM5). It's a machine that could date back to 1993 (27 years ago) and is at least seventeen years old.
I wouldn't pay more that £400 for a model C (as the PM5 replacement is £155 on top of that).
I wouldn't pay more than £500 for a model D/PM3.
I wouldn't pay more than £600 for a model D/PM4.
And no more than £700 for a model D/PM5 (and that would have to have a very low lifetime metres score).

Good deal!!!
Be aware though that the PM5 odometer readings can be wiped at any time so those figures could possibly be inaccurate.

You'll need to update the firmware on that PM5 with the C2 Util.
