Looking for Rower in the UK

Post by MisterKevster » June 2nd, 2020, 9:33 am

Hi Folks
....gym closed...really feel like I'm fading here in the Leeds/UK.
Looking at 2nd hand rowers....can't stop laughing at how many are available on Ebay (UK) for up to twice new price!
Have the chance of a realistically priced model C....serviced/some new parts....(with PM3) ....but concerned about the age.
(last model C produced in 2003.)
Is age an issue?...and what do members think?

Age shouldn't be an issue. How many metres has it got on the clock and can you get to see it? Any decent photos of it?

They are more or less bulletproof if looked after even within only a modicum of care

Thanks Dangerscouse....your reply just popped up!
Going to take a look tomorrow....have asked for pics a little while ago...but nothing yet.
Not sure of overall metres.....but suppose that the PM3 wasn't the original monitor??

Yeah, you should be able to tell with a few good strokes whilst sitting on it if it's any good.

If it's a good price, and as long as it looks structurally sound, virtually everything can be replaced...famous last words :D

It won't be the original. There's a number of problems with old PM3s, so check the date code on the product ID page, check the firmware version while you're there (If it's not Version 332 or 108 that'll give a good clue as to when it was fitted - if the current owner hasn't bothered with any upgrades).

Went ahead an bought the model C that I mentioned.
New sprocket, chain, bungees, full seat/rollers, foot restraints/straps, powder coated flywheel cage come to mind!
A few 'cosmetic' bits to find.....better feet....might go for a moulded handle...for starters.

So....where is best place to order spares here in t'UK...?
Went on the Concept (UK) and was pleasantly surprised at initial prices for bit's and pieces....then can see that Sales Tax (US??) is added along with VAT. Actual prices appear to be more than double the price shown.
Would expect to see a price either inclusive or exclusive of VAT on a UK page??!

Were you looking on the US version? Here's a link to the UK Shop if that helps https://shop-uk.concept2.com/6-indoor-rowers
