different magnets in flywheel?

Post by Erger2222 » June 16th, 2025, 6:20 pm

Recently, while repairing my flywheel, the 12-pole magnet that came with the erg went missing. I have an identical 6-pole magnet; could I use that instead? What would be the result? Thanks in advance.

No.

12 poles total 6 north and 6 south are needed from memory. The thing is glued to the flywheel and typically never goes "Missing"

Than your PM5 becomes useless as it expects a very specific pattern per rotation, which it isn't getting. I seriously doubt it would even trigger a start as it probably wouldn't reach the minimum speed.

If you decide to go the easy route, complete flywheel assemblies are avail from concept2 and are/were $100-$150.
