Want to buy PM2 Monitor

Post by dusty b » December 13th, 2011, 8:01 pm

I recently got a smoking deal on a C2 model C rower, but the monitor is dead...

Anybody that's upgrading to a PM3 want to sell theirs?

There are a number of threads on here about bringing back to life an old PM2. If you've written yours off, you might want to try a couple of them.

Thanks for the pointer ToddMR. I'm actually an electronics tech by trade, but since this unit has been outside a bit I kinda figured that it was a lost cause to start with. After reading a few threads and seeing that there are some obvious things to look for I'll give it a try, but I don't hold out much hope.

If you have an electronics background you should be able to bring it back to life unless it has very serious corrosion.

Post a picture or two of both sides of the board and I can tell you straight away if it's worth investing your time in trying to repair it or not.

So, I got a chance to open up the monitor tonight. Other than a little corrosion around the battery leads the board looks relatively okay. But the LCD screen is another story... Since I knew that the monitor didn't function when I bought the unit I never even looked close enough to notice that the screen has been broken and the leak has all but blackened the whole display.

So it looks like I'm still in the market for a replacement after all... but thanks for the pointers again. This site is a great resource.
