Model C PM5 not responding

I got an error message, "sensor wire damaged" and monitor is not responding to input(rowing).
Ordered a new sensor and installed easily. Still got the error message, once. Now it powers up with the button, all functions work
but doesn't respond to rowing. And no error message.
Contacted C2 and they recommended removing batteries and rowing 10-12 stroke and see if the unit powers up. It didn't.
Is the new sensor also faulty?
any advice? rowing without the monitor is not fun!

Did you get the right model of sensor? The model C sensor is different to the model D/E/Rowerg.
Are the magnets still attached to the flywheel?
Is the monitor set for model B/C?

Have you fixed the right problem? Its more likely that the sensor wire was broken than the sensor itself. The wire can get a bit stressed on its route to the monitor, particularly if you regulary move the arm/monitor - eg to store it away. If you replaced the wire then not relevant, but if you replaced just the sensor....

I replaced the sensor and wire. The old wire looked fine, no breaks or kinks.
Did not check the magnets. I will confirm PM5 is set to
Model C.
I did notice that if I just start rowing the PM5 “wakes up” but doesn’t display any active data. Just like powering up by pressing menu button.

Quite so, though many prefer to watch HR rather than use the PM data. When I can't row I use HR alone, climbing hills, stairs, in zero weight dead lifts (my 80kg is plenty), so can compare in any case. A watch is enough to avoid going too fast/far (as if).

I sent an email to C2 with the issues and recommended resetting the model type on the PM5 and that fixed the issue.
Not sure what prompted the error code in the first place which prompted the replacement of the sensor or why the PM5 which was working fine before needed the model type re-entered but we are back to rowing since I don’t have a the lame excuse of no functioning monitor!

Check the 3 magnets in the flywheel they ALL need to be working for the PM5 to be able to do the calculations and get a display.
If you only have 1 or 2 working the PM5 will turn on but not register.

I am Reading this after installing a PM5 on a Model C yesterday. Is it normal for the original PM2 sensor wire to be a smidge short? It works fine, it’s just not long enough to make a clean routing path.
