Model Differences?

Post by ben03wallace54 » February 2nd, 2009, 3:00 am

I generally erg on a model C erg at school with my teammates. However, I have a model D at home. It seems that my times are almost always better at school. Does this have to do with a difference in the models, or something else?

Ben -
I use a Mod C at home (old handle) & up until recently it had a PM2 monitor (upgraded to a PM3 after Christmas) . Raced on a brand new Model D with PM4 yesterday.

Other than the Mod D feeling 'smoother' & handle feeling a bit nicer, there was not much difference.

Two thoughts on possible sources of difference:

1. There could be some small differences between a particular pair of machines based on normal manufacturing tolerances, but this should be very small.

2. Drag Factor. Do you have it set at the same level on both machines ?
I am speaking of the DF you can get displayed on the PM2 or PM3 or PM4, not the actual numbers moulded into the casing where the air vent lever is.

Cheers. Patrick.

I would suggest that it is also possible that you are little faster at school because you are competing with your teammates, even if subconsciously.
