In the thread from the link below you will find John Rupp has made several posting where he has used the quote feature of this forum to attribute postings to others that have in fact not been made. This has been going on for quite some time, however the misrepresentations are getting much worse.

http://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?t= ... c&start=30

What is even more sad is this is typically done to those in the forum who contribute the most useful information about erging in general.

I would appreciate having the offending posts removed. If there is a way to control John Rupp in this forum that would be much appreciated as well. I believe a poll would indicate the forum would be much improved by his postings being eliminated.

I am in agreement with Jim. Whenever a subject such as this comes up there is always a kneejeck reaction by free speech advocates that if others don't like it, then just ignore it and it will go away.

Well, gradually over the past couple of years many previously interesting and knowlegeable posters have first ignored John, then left the forum altogether. Far from ending John's trolling it seems to have only emboldened him to try to take it over completely. He is close to succeeding. When the Memberlist link was still functional and one could sort by total posts John was shown to have about three times as many posts as the next most prolific poster. Anyone with some time to waste by clicking the "find all posts by John Rupp" link in his profile will find that the bulk of 777+ posts have little to offer. It is basically crapflooding.

While I too believe in free speech, the right to it is not absolute. It might be worth another look at this link that has been posted before. (I think I have to thank BobS for first posting it): http://members.aol.com/intwg/trolls.htm

Could someone please remove the messages by Yankeerunner.

He is trying to take over this thread, and it is very basically crapflooding.

:(

Perhaps if there were a section completely dedicated to whiners and cry babies.

Then the rest of us could continue our discussions about health, rowing and exercise. :D

I would gladly submit to having all of my postings deleted as a condition of having all of John Rupp's postings deleted as well. I'd consider it a worthy tradeoff for the good of the forum as a whole.

Having other former posters leave while leaving John in place has done nothing to save the deterioration of a formerly vibrant, interesting, and informative forum.

If getting rid of my postings will be matched by getting rid of John Rupp's postings then perhaps the forum can start to flourish again for the rest of the posters and lurkers who might feel better about joining in.

We don't have the memberlist because I was spending 5-10 minutes per day removing spam sign-ups that were attracted by its existence :)
