I just have to boast about my littlest duckling (5 1/2 yrs) - Nicholas finished the kids 5K challenge yesterday. He's pretty excited. Today Dad logged him in to claim his prize. Now to get the bigger two motivated to complete their slightly longer challenges.

Nicholas' longest row is 1888 m. That was a pretty long work-out at his pace. His legs are so short that his spm is about 55. He has very little arm pull. We'll keep working on the form. For now, I'm trying to get him not to go knock-kneed at the catch.

Proud mom - Schenley

Hey, that IS pretty good for the little duckling! Way to go, Nicholas!!

He's doing better than my spousal unit's doing.

Nice job Mama Duck Schenley, for getting those ducklings on a rower, and for setting a good example for them yourself!

--Jen in WI

Wonderful!
Danae (almost 6) has over 3000 meters at this point. (We did not keep track until recently.)

She rows about 600 meters whenever I row. I told her about your son's acheivement and she is looking forward to finishing 5000 too.

I am overweight and never exercised regularly (before now). I am glad to know that there is time for us to get good habits and that we can pass them on to our children.

Way to go Schenley and Nicholas!

Susan

Hi Susan and Schenley,

It's great that your kids are rowing. Maybe they'll row on water when they are older. My kids won't row, but they like playing Dance Dance Revolution. I tried it once, and rowing is more of a workout, at least on the mode they do it.

Susan, sounds like you need to log more of Danae's meters! Every meter counts . Of course, there's no way we're going to overtake the Ancients, but she IS on our team.

Schenley, would you like to add Nicholas to Fowl Play . He could see all his meters on the teams listing.

Emilia
Sure, Emilia, you can add him if you want. It will help all the people who are trying to stay ahead of the average. You can add Jonathan, too. Benjamin doesn't have any January meters yet. Maybe seeing his brothers up there will get him going. (Same last name and e-mail as me. I think that's all you need.)

Susan, I'll tell Nicholas about Danae. We had to tell him that we wouldn't log under 500 m because he did a couple that were around 150 - 200 m.

Hello Schenley,

They're on the team! My sons did the kids' Holiday Challenge one year, but both said "Never again!" And they've stuck to it. I've got to work on them. I should check out the kids' categories again.

Emilia

Emilia - It's a little bit hard to find, so here's the link: Kid's Distance Clubs

I "lost" the page for a while, so I bookmarked it.
