It must have something to do with living in the boondocks in Alberta. You know talking to cows day in and day out . (right Krista?)
I'm also hoping that we can fill up some more boats. Who knows, maybe we'll get more boats than the whole Canadian Navy . Mind you, I'm not knocking the Navy, I think those men and woman do a great job in their peace keeping (and other) roles. John.

Super rowin' hosers.

We have all ready turned the corner at Rome and we are on our way to Dakar. This is a long leg. Over 4 million kliks!

Some of you may have noticed that I am having some trouble with the website for our around the world row. I am trying to fix this, but the google earth file should continue to work well.

Also, we may be running into some problems with keeping track of mileage. When the Jan C2 challenge ends, I will have no way of keeping track of how much people are rowing. (Especially the people who joined only for the January challenge and are not members of the regular Eh!Team)

I am working with Bill from Concept2 to see if we can keep our Jan challenge log open so all you will have to do is post your meters as you usually do.

Jim

Ok, hosers bad news.

I will only be able to track cumulative meters for people who are signed up on the virtual/university Eh!Team after January 31.

So if you want to keep participating in the Around the World Row -> then sign up with the Eh!Team as your regular team. We have a lot of high mileage rowers that are members of other teams, so please do your best to try and persuade them to join us.

In the interim, it will be back to us regular hosers, trying to slog it around the world, eh!

Only about 52 million kilometers to go, before we make it back to C2 in Vermont!

Jim

We are heading across the Mediterranean now, hosers. A nice little fun in the sun after all that partying in Paris and Rome.

Believe it or not there is a a Mediterranean Rowing Club It looks like the gang in Gibralter knows have to have fun.

Only 4 million more kliks and we make it to Dakar!

I have figured out how to keep track of our miles, just from the concept2 team page, but you have to be a member of the Eh!Team for it to work! You post 'em to your concept2 logbook and I will translate them into the around the world row.

Dan Wickwar from North Carolina has joined us crazy canucks for our row around the world.

Keep on rowin, eh.

Jim

I see on your profile that you're an x-runner and are using rowing for cross-training. If you're still into running at all, the runners thread is a lot of fun. Are you into other sport (s) as well? I passed through your area in my younger days. I remember some very nice country in your parts.

Rowed a 30@20 just for fun...nah I'm pulling your leg.

4x1000. HR at end of each 1000 was 175, 188, 188, 191 . I knew there was a reason I don't normally wear my HRM
The good news is last month's Cross Team Challenge must have worked for fitness, as the average of the intervals was better than my PB.
This could also mean I don't put enough effort into PBs

Welcome Dan! Feel free to join our smaller boats in the CTC.

Cheers,

Kirk

Way to push it there Kirk! I just finished a mellow 7k. I'm trying to get back into doing two weight training workouts each week in addition to rowing and a bit of running. The weights earlier in the day sure made my legs slow tonight .

I'm hoping to get a 300 metre done for the CTC this weekend. Shannon and both of the kids are going to do it soon too (although the young ones will have to weight till they're over there colds .

Hey Hosers!

Welcome Scott Broussard from Duson, Louisana to the Eh!Team. He was with us for the January challenge and is now joining us for our row around the world.

Thanx for your patience with the website, I am trying to make some major improvements so you will be able to see your individual contributions more clearly and make the sight more attractive. I have run into some "technical difficuluties" that I am working on.

I'm going to go row, eh!

Jim
Welcome Scott!!!

Our CTC boat is part way in the water. I took a shot at it today and it went well. I did it in 53.8, pace 1:29.8, ~s/r 42. I think it helped doing a good warm up. I rowed 5k with some speedwork in there. The hardest parts were the first three strokes (trying to stay on the seat) and the last 50 metres. I'm looking forward to some company in the boat . Maybe while we're in the Meditaranian area we could do a bit of fishing . Anybody know what the main fish are in that area?

12k total.

Good effort John on CTC.
I'm in the boat as well. I agree with the staying on the seat thing, it's not easy for us lwt's to stay on there and apply acceleration.

I knew it was going to be tougher than I thought when I looked up and saw that there was still 185 to go! All in all I didn't embarass myself in front of the other health club members who must wonder why "that guy" is gasping with his head held in his hands.

Can't wait for the next attempt.

Kirk

I did a 1000 ranking today and got a PB, 3:18.2. I knocked over 8 seconds off of my last try. I've only got to do the hour row and the 1/2 marathon then I'll have all of the rankings done as a lightweight. I think I might wait a couple weeks on those.

Great job on the CTC Kirk! I think Shannon may try it on Tuesday then we're almost in the water! John.

Too bad we don't have three ergs, so we could make a party of it.
