(Rob Waddell)

The Rob Waddell 1 min sprint time I think might be a myth. I asked him personally and he said he's never rowed a 1 min sprint before. His max pull is also 1:04 like Benton, although if Rob tried it nowadays I think he could beat it as he's a lot bigger and stronger than in his rowing days, although not as fit.

I heard that Parvel had pulled a 0:59 split, so tried to ask him at Crash-B 2 years ago if this was true but he hardly speaks english so couldn't understand me.......... either that or just didn't want to speak to me

Leo Young's max pull was a 1:05. There is a topic on the UK forum where he talks about it.

I do have a photo of Benton pulling a 1:05 while he was doing a 10 sec sprint a couple years back. Just after I clicked the camera, he then hit 1:04. I might still have some video footage of him pulling a 1:04. In Nov 03 at a practic session for the 100k we had the camera on the monitor. If I can find it, maybe I can pass it onto Niall to maybe upload if possible? His first few pulls were crazy. Something like 1:38, 1:16, 1:07, 1:05, 1:04 :o

Jon

Happy to take your word for the Waddell sprint, especially in light of that he doesn't recall it himself. The last picture I saw of him looked like that if he returned to Rowing he would need a refitted 2-, sweep riggers and a pair of Sweep oars. I know the 435m is listed on the "All time best Erg score" web page, but several things are out of date there. I thought I had run across a second source on it, but perhaps that was incorrect also. It doesn't seem out of line as a possibility however.

BTW, nice 300m! Who is that "jumpsoda" fellow, anyone in your neck of the woods?
Jon has massive explosive power and great speed up and down the rail, the combination of these 2 things gets him these amazing times for the short sprints.

Sir Pirate

Fat Boyz RC now official - Of course keeping with the FB spirit of leisure, we will participate only in the events we feel like doing and will make a single attempt at each.

Go Big, or don't go at all. 8)

That okay with you, FB1?

To fill an "official boat" We do need to recruit 1 more official FB, and a couple FB mascots; 1 lwt Male, and 1 Female.

If interested, apply here with your credentials. :D

PaulS

To to preserve FB honor, you could seek a special ruling that would allow you to use height (or lack thereof) rather than avoirdupois (or lack thereof) as the standard for your boat's "mascot." With a shortweight on your crew, rather than a lightweight, the FBs could thereby maintain a graceful symmetry.

Besides, I'm concerned that by substituting a mental state for a physical reality, you might undermine the foundations of FBness.

Tom

I would add that all FB's are "undertall" by definition.

We may have another problem. Can a "girl" be a FB at all? 8)

Our mascots will be expected to partake in the various selected challenges as equal and accepted members of the Club. They will not however have veto power over any majority decision regarding approved challenges.

I think the FB rules are shaping up nicely. (Another FB motto)

Not wishing to presume FB expertise, I think logic might allow the meaning of FB to morph as gender (that is physical attributes) change. Hence where the girls are concerned, FB might mean . . .

. . . well, I leave this matter in your capable hands.

I will follow w/ interest your recruitment of crewmates.

Tom
