What do you do with your certificates?

I hang them on the wall behind my erg.

[attachmentid=86]

And so as you can see there is enough place for new certificates (a new one for 4 million meters will arrive any day now ).

Hennie
I haven't got any certificates yet, but I was planning to do a "concept 2 folder", but maybe they should be on the wall instead.

/Anna

I throw them away. I wish they would give us the option of whether we want the certificate or not. I like the other goodies. I just have no use for a certificate and hate to waste the paper.

I toss 'em as well. In fact, I just had the following e-mail discussion with KC Colt about this (on the occasion of my 10th million meter).

Alex
"I'd like to suggest that you put up checkbox
options to forgo the certificate and/or pin and/or prize. For example, my
certificates go straight in the trash and I always feel bad about the waste
of time and resources to print and package the things. Other folks might
like to display the certificates (in a club setting?), but skip the prize."

KC's response...
"I appreciate your suggestion for identifying the awards that you do want
and will pass on. Concept2 likes to recycle and conserve so that is a good
idea. I will forward it to our marketing and web teams today."

FWIW, I no longer ask for the standard million meter prizes unless I need a new water bottle.

Alex Frakt

PS I just put a poll up about this over in the General forum.

okay... i think you guys need to change your perspective a bit... The whole point behind the certificates is to incentivize the workout.. Now, for you guys that have 10+ million miles, I'm sure that after the first couple of certs, they might start to lose a bit of meaning. You really don't need the incentive because after 5 Million miles, i'm sure rowing has gotten to be just a regular part of your routine.. However, being on the negative side of my first Million, I'm really looking forward to getting my first certificate.

And its nice to know that I really wont have to do anything besides row to get it. Not having to apply or ask for it is nice, cause it makes me feel like someone is actually watching what I'm doing..

So, as a beginner to this whole erging sport... please don't take this certificate away from me, or make me have to apply for it..

If you dont want to give them out after I reach 5 Million, I'm good with that.. but the first few I'm sure I'll really appreciate.

SF

C2 doesn't send it to you automatically. Your choice might be to have the default be send the certificate? (Edit: Sorry was messing up threads and thought I was in the certificate vote thread.) Some people like getting them and displaying them. Others of us don't care even getting the first million certificate and dislike the waste involved however small it might be. It all adds up.

I hang mine on the wall, primarily to impress family visiters. I have one space for the latest million (19 Mm is in the mail as I type) and a second for the latest challenge (currently the Blue Moon). When they are replaced by as new arrival the older certifiactes go into a losoe leaf binder with all my other rowing stuff

john hendrie

If you want the merchandise award you apply and currently automatically get the certificate and pin along with the chosen merchandise. That's the "problem." Well, not really a problem. I think we consider it more a waste.
Ask and ye shall receive, C2 has added a delete option on the certificates and/or pins (if applicable) and/or prize. Take a look at the updated Million Meters Entry Form. It's near the bottom, just above the Team Million Meter Clubs section.

Alex
