Acronyms! For the new people!

Everything sport seems to has its own jargon. Erging appears to be no different. I see LOTS of interesting acronyms flung around on the forum and being new I have no idea what some of them are. I am sure others have the same problem? A lot of forums have a post similar to this one that defines what these acronyms are. I will edit and update this post regularly if people wish to contribute or it seems useful to others.

A great post for people new to erging is here:

What does LP mean? I persume it is you maximum speed in min/500m but how do you measure it? I just see it on everyone's signature block. Edit: Also HM and FM?

LP = low pull - lowest /500 split you can pull. I think many use the average of 5 consecutive power strokes taken from a flying start. Puts lots of stress on the lower back and tends to encourage exagerated poor technique , both increase risk of injury, so a fair number of us have never done one.
HM = half marathon
FM = full marathon
RT = rugby test
ELM = Erg league manager: http://dynamicducks.com:12024/ (this site seems to be down pretty often)

SR = Stroke Rate = Pace measured in strokes per minute.

Split = Pace measured in time (min:secs) to cover 500 meters.

"I had a 1:49 split @ 30 SR for 20 minutes and then I blew up and rowed the rest of the piece at 2:05 @ 24 SR."
