Hey, H-Bird! I'm VERY glad to hear you're feeling better! And bravo for those stunning numbers you've been putting up. It hasn't taken you long to resume your place as the leading lady erger on the team! :D :D :D

I hear you on the fear of falling on the bike. I ate it badly once in college and am very fearful of going fast too. And just this past Sunday I did a header while running trail. No serious damage, but it sure was a surprise! I love how safe the erg is..... How much can it hurt to fall off something 11 inches off the ground onto carpeting?  :P

Saw neurologist today. She wants me to have another lower leg Emg/NVC test to compare to last Novembers. I found out that the neurological problems I was having pre surgery will more than likely not go away due to the damage that was done to my spinal cord via compression. She did tell me that I can keep up with what exercising I'm doing as long as I'm "comfortable" with it. Long story short, looks like I'm having issue's with my central nervous system, they just don't know what's causing it or how bad it is. I am so glad that I found the Erg because I can't imagine how things would be if I hadn't been. I most definitely wouldn't be running like I am now

I forgot that Izz was away. I guess I'll have to wait for him tondefend himself from my sarcasm. I can wait.

No WP for me, thanks for asking. I'm just trying to get out on the water as much as possible. I like to do the C2 Workout of the Day on days in not swimming or rowing. Those are nice for mixing it up. I will return to the WP when it gets cold again.

Yep, trying once again to NOT go out of the block too hard. Hard to go slow and short, but the darn shoulder still is messed up (physical therapist said "we can't help"). So I've got a personal goal: take it easy!

Sorry to hear this, Pam... But glad that you're still able to exercise and do some running. Hang in there....

Sad thing is that it was the erg that killed my shoulder! :( I'm probably the only guy around who could hurt a shoulder by rowing (but I've sure learned what NOT to do!)

I think I'll take on Maine & California next! I'm not scared of them, especially considering how much the glycogen in my muscles has been maximized, thanks to a secret Power Food that starts with the letter "P"...
But first, there are some nice folks outside my house, carrying pitchforks & lit torches. Let me just go outside & see what they want...

I once set a goal to not set goals, and I found I was able to reach it very quickly! That was a great boost to my Self-Esteem - but somehow it didn't carry over into other areas of my life.

Glen, when I was diagnosed with an anomaly in my neck, which the doc said there was nothing they could do about, I would just have neck pain forever, I started taking Glucosamine HCl & Chondroitin Sulfate, with some MSM (Main Stream Media?) thrown in for good luck.
At the time, 2 "meta-analyses" came out within weeks of each other. One said that after looking at tens of studies on G HCl & CS, they saw no benefit to taking them. The other said that after looking at tens of studies, there was clear benefit to taking G HCl & CS. I looked at the studies they chose, & the meta-analysis that showed clear improvement was weighted towards studies where the person was taking Glucosamine HCl & Chondroitin Sulfate AND exercising or doing physical therapy. The one that showed no improvement was weighted towards studies where the people took Glucosamine HCl & Chondroitin Sulfate... and hoped for the best.

So, I took Glucosamine HCl & Chondroitin Sulfate (with MSM) for 90 days, continued to exercise in ways that moved my neck, and I had an over 90% improvement. When my Doc asked me how my neck was, & I told him it wasn't hurting and was essentially better, he looked at me like I was from Mars! That's when I used my ray gun on him, to make him forget our interaction. I then informed the Mother Ship that he was neutralized and posed no further threat.
To this day, my neck is virtually perfect (unless of course you count the fact that my head rolls down my back onto the floor regularly as a problem)!

Hi folks,

Got the numbers out early today. Up at zero-dark-thirty tomorrow to head off to Bend, Oregon for a vacation and possible relocation research trip (a few years off -- retirement age). Anywho... I will be posting from the road, so numbers may be a little squirrely on the hours, and I will be posting from the phone or iPad and it won't be easy to edit, so please forgive the lack of atta-boys and atta-girls; better yet, jump in and supply them for others!

I'm trying to think of some witty innuendo I can respond with, but I'm still half-asleep!

It's a good start to the season for me; my overall average pace is 1:52.3/500M so far; a little more than 16km/hr.

Lisa I hope you enjoy your time off!

Row strong Team!
