Wait...that graphic missing the image of somebody doing a clean and jerk with the erg. And where's the erg-press (on back, press erg up, repeat)?
Now come back when you have a complete workout!

Way to go, ladies! :D

Hey Team,

I need some expert advice. My acupuncturist advised me that my back muscles were noticeably more developed on my right side vs my left side. Now that was probably the case before I started rowing but I am concerned I may be overusing my right side in my rowing.

How do I balance this out? Are there exercised I can do with the machine to help focus on the left side muscles?

Any advice or tips from your experience?

The indoor rower is inherently a very symmetrical device so it seems a bit unlikely (but not impossible) that you're over emphasizing one side. That being said, I think the short answer would simply be "pay attention". Pay attention to your posture...are you centered over the track? Pay attention to your legs...are you pressing down evenly with both legs? Pay attention to your technique...is your body square, back tall, core muscles engaged at the catch?

Probably the best thing you could do is video yourself working out, and then take a look at it. Any asymmetry would likely be quite visible. Do a couple of angles, one directly from the side, and one directly in line with your back. I'll bet you'd instantly see if you have any issues.

Good luck!

..glen
