Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and good luck during the holiday challenge. Congratulations David A on milestone achievement, very very awesome. . I'm cooking a turkey for family and friends (about 30) not easy for this vegetarian. Sam is doing much better and is having his feeding tube taken out next Wednesday.
Best wishes and thoughts to all.

Ergdata Update
I just updated the IOS Ergdata this morning. I do think it is uploading workouts a bit quicker although I've only updated one test piece so far. I'm having a bit of an issue with the voice though. It is talking very slowly. I previously had the rate default at 40% and that is a good speed. Well I now have it up to 100% and it is barely fast enough. Also the voice is very loud. Much louder than Voice over and when it starts talking blows my head off. I reported this to C2.
So far I don't notice any other changes.
Just a little sappy note I didn't mention in my thanks giving message. At least I don't think I did. Thank you Luna Tics for being here. Also a special thank you for all who have played with me and helped me out. I'm sure you know who you are. I'm allowed to be sappy, I am in the land of the maple trees right? Grin.
Have fun, with love and thanks
Thor.

Re: Picking a charity?
Thanks DDRR. It doesn't work. Not accessible for the screen reading software I guess. I will have someone help me later today to be sure. I can find the link but when I click on it nothing happens. On the main log page-in the upper right corner. There is a "thermometer" that records total funds raised. There are also personal totals of meters rowed, charity chosen and funds raised. At the very bottom of this section is a blue rectangle marked, I think, SELECT CHARITY". Clicking on this will bring you to a page to select a specific charity or to let C2 choose.
Hope this helps,
Happy Thanksgiving All,
DDRR
Happy metres.

Yes Robin, Ed has completed the dastardly deed of 5 million. Gotham City is better for having him. Now, how do we make the Batmobile keep up?

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Hello Fellow Loonies! Happy Thanksgiving.
I am officially off the water, although with warm weather like we had yesterday and today in New Haven, CT, I might head out a few more times. This year was an interesting one. We didn't participate in too many sprint races this year, but did race in Masters Nationals in Camden, NJ in August. I was in 5 events, made it to the finals in all, but only came home with 2 third place medals. This fall I raced in a 4+ at the Head of the Riverfront in Hartford, CT. We just missed a medal and placed 4th. I was in a 4+ that had a slightly different lineup that raced at the Head of the Housatonic in Shelton, CT. We were in the middle of the pack in that race. I was not selected for the Head of the Charles 8+ this year. My team's boat didn't do as well as we have the past few years. (I can secretly pretend this is because I wasn't in the boat, but I think the competition is just getting tougher.) I did get to race in the women's 8+ at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, PA and at the Head of the Fish in Schenectady, NY. We placed second in Philly, but did not medal at the Fish.
Outside of my normal rowing, I had the opportunity to row in the Stämpfli Express. This is the world’s largest rowing boat which was made in Switzerland, but has been making a tour around the world. It is a sectional boat where each section is placed in the water and bolted together to the previous section. We were lucky to have the opportunity to row this boat out of my boathouse, the New Haven Rowing Club in Oxford, CT. The Stämpfli Express is a 24 seated sculling boat. (For non rowers - sculling is when each rower has two oars, one port and one starboard. Sweep rowing is when both hands are on the same oar.) The boat is basically, three eight-person shells bolted together to form a rowing shell 144 feet long!
The day I rowed it there were a combination of experienced rowers and complete novices. That made for an interesting row. It was still an awesome experience. I'm trying to upload some pictures, but uploaded pictures in so long, I'm not sure if the image will come through or just a link. Hopefully, if only a link, it will work for anyone who wants to check out this awesome boat.

Congratulations Ed, incredible rowing! You are amazing!
Karyn, congratulations on a great otw season. That must have been a very unique experience to row on the Express. Wow, it is huge!

Thanks for that update, Karyn.
And that Stämpfli Express must have been quite a unique experience.
Unique, but strangely familiar... I knew A J should have filed for a patent.
It must be something to see that thing get up to speed.

Karyn, great update. You certainly had some great successes. I can’t even imagine the Express. That must have been a thrill. To think what it would be like to have 24 Karyns pulling that yacht. Wow!
