I didn't see any of the relays at BRIC yesterday - is that literally the four of you on one machine (so also have to switch on and off, or just a team event where you're all doing a 1k simultaneously?
Cheers, it goes like it goes, better not make it a big deal.

"Our" relays are everybody on his machine and you finish when then team has done 4k. So the fastest rowers pulls a bit kore and the slowest a bit less. I pulled roughly 1025 meter (haven,t seen details yet)

We also have the uni 8x2k s. Which are a spectacle, area is packed and the crowd, lots of students go crazy in supporting their uni. Same format, 8machines per team, row untill 16k is done. The race softwhere av the meters done during the race.

Results up http://www.nkindoorroeien.nl/deelnemers/uitslagen/

2k splits 136.1 137.6 137.5 134.9 spm31

1k 1027 meters. First 500 130.4 end 129.7 34.7 spm

Even if you didn't perform as well as you hoped, you still went there and faced off against what must be some of the strongest competition
you will find around here. Tip of the hat to you.
I'm considering competing in a smaller erg race this winter in February, but it's pretty much a given that I'm not going to win anything.
Makes it hard to find motivation.

On another note, I swapped the old PM2 for a PM3 today, reconfigured it to work with my model C and gave it a go. Works great. Don't need all the
fancy display modes, but the interval programming (a curse on FIRT.. takes minutes to program those c2ctc intervals) and the USB cable link to my
phone for data-logging are a big bonus.

Perhaps not as good as you wanted but you still did great. Als you re showing great consistency in finish-time over the past years.
So great job Henry!!

Thx guys,

Ivan, if its not much hassle to get to, I would just go, gives a nice target and you always see and learn from new experiences. In the end its about your personal performance, much less about what others do.

Rolf, long time no see :D how are you doing?
It was ok enough, only the way that 2k went was very uncomfortable, I saw footage and the splits, both not even that bad, but they don,t show how it felt.

Relay was much easier, and the way I now relative easy can pull sub 3.00 1k s is certainly simply good for me. Has been my aim also. Fitness a bit less, and 2k is a lot about fitness.

I m doing fine Henry. The erg didnt get a lot of attention over the past months. Focussed on rowing OTW and a new job. Had less time for erging.

Finally gave the FIRTalized intervals a first go this evening, ended up @ 1515m.
Must admit I held back a bit since I had no idea how well I'd endure these short intervals, but I doubt I'd get more than 50m farther if I didn't.
How do your average splits for these intervals compare to your 500m PB?

A good bit slower, not much to tell, don,t think lots if people will treat this super serious.

One thing this month's does having going for it for me is the novelty factor after all the intensity of the the recent racing!

Had another go today and got 21m more than last time - 60" interval was slowest at 1:38.0 - and a bit more pace on the way back down:

Certainly didn't have much left for the second 30" - but given it was still a bit quicker than the other intervals will defo have another go at some stage and try to squeeze out a few more meters, probably try a higher df next time I think (this was 122).

Definitely one worth trying with more drag Rohan as an experiment.
Good improvement though.

Yes, OTW is more fun. More feeling of speed and movement. And also being outdoors in nature makes it a great thing to do. You see things from another perspective then you normally do.
On the erg one can go much deeper because you don't need to take care of stability and also bit less of technique. Loss of technique at the end of a race otw will make you lose speed immediately. But it still can be hard work. Esp in a team-boat.

Will you participate in the Ergohead in january?

Good rowers absolutely work very hard in a boat, the best ergers, 2k and up are otw people, so they are the fittest.

Ergohead, proberly, but not 100% sure, I am not super fit, so slower and also will be a week without training after christmas, that won,t help. Will decide on the last moment.

Ok, fumbling in the dark here. Need to get back to rowing (have only ever done indoor, never been out on the water), and got an email about the 2017 Virtual Team Challenge. Perfect, I thought. Rummaged around on the forums and found my way to Forum Flyers. Was drawn to the group based on your description of taking all levels and ages. In some ways I'm far from a novice, but in others feeling like one again. Years ago I was logging a quite a bit of distance with strong rankings, but time and age have not been kind! Anyway, I'm now a FF affiliate and FF 2016 virtual challenge team member (is this still the right team for the upcoming 2017 virtual challenge??), hoping both to be the kick in the pants needed to get me moving again. And in return I aim to contribute what I can, as small as it may be.

Cheers, everyone!

That's excellent - welcome. Henry is in charge of the VTC teams - not sure whether we need another one - it is a good motivator for getting some meters under you belt.
You may also be interested in the CTC challenge http://www.c2ctc.com = a different challenge each month with some very fast people at the top but hundreds of others as well. It is good for variety and forcing you to do things that you otherwise might not.

BTW what is your name rank and serial number??

Heather Ryan. Rank is 21084. Didn't see a serial number anywhere on my profile. Where do I find it? Will keep an eye on CTC!
