Thanks Dan!

Well, I really did regret putting that post up, I beat my previous times for the marathon and the 50k, and could have stopped at either for a win. Things went downhill from there, and it turned into a real slog.

I won’t go into details, other than to say to anyone else thinking of the 100 to get their conditioning right first.

I was slow, i had to get off the rower at 70, 80 and 90 k marks for toilet breaks, but I finished.

No great view from up here though, Dan, the world looks just the same. But given a little time to recover, I am sure I a going to feel a little better about myself. And I would not have made it without the Lunatics, you all inspire me to push myself.
I don't know how you managed physically, and especially mentally, to do a marathon, let alone 50 km, or 100 km without having done much of any exercise in the last year. You must be part robot. :P

All In A Few Days of Erging: Team Progress Thru 5.16.19

Post by Kona2 » May 16th, 2019, 11:27 am

Two weeks into the 2020 erging season, and the Lunies have surpassed FOUR million team meters!

The thing about long car drives through places that you haven't had a chance to explore is that you REALLY want to stop and explore...but sometimes you have a deadline to get back to Dodge (or wherever your home may be), so to speak. Utah is a beautiful state - filled with lots of colors that I like. It's a strange landscape, with lots of boulders and canyons. Hidden amongst all those things are little oasis settings where a spring creates a microcosm for lots of animals. Sure, there are things that crawl, sting, fly and slither in there, too! No real time to check out too many things - but a lunch stop in Green River, UT gave the chance to have lunch at one of the best burger places ever...Ray's Tavern.

No - but we are not against doing so. It’s been more of a Brit thing that we have less visibility to! Tell us about it!

Don't know a huge amount about it but as I'm slowly improving my rowing after the injury I wanted a challenge to focus the mind - and back! Just wondered if anyone was interested in trying it. The challenge for May is the following

Row three unrestricted repetitions of 1000m with five minutes rest intervals.
First rep from a standing start.
Second & third reps from a standing or rolling start (your choice).

Record your time for 3000 metres, not including the ten minutes of rest.

http://c2ctc.com/

I've done one (but not posted it yet) and although slow it was enjoyable to do!!

BAGPIPES!

Post by just27 » May 19th, 2019, 7:35 pm

I just noticed a new picture on the team roster ... Kenneth has bagpipes! That's awesome. It's a hauntingly beautiful sound. (Or, it's nails on the blackboard ... depends on your point of view, or, I suppose, the piper's skill level.) Do you have a kilt, too, sir?

Crikey...! As long as they keep their distance they can be quite spectacular to watch. Mind you, some of the ones we have over here are super venomous and not to be messed with...

Ps, today's update from me is for 7 days - I've been slack updating since my USB to the Monitor has failed...
